Does this run over the network? Because the board wont even boot into an OS at the moment, so I can't run it directly on the machine with the issue.

I have an LG NC2100 digital signage board that I picked up on ebay to use as a low power server. Was working great until I decided to do something stupid and pressed CTRL + P to disable intel MEBx.

Now when I turn it on, I get a black screen on the HDMI connection, and it seems like the system hangs. I can access the BIOS on HDMI, but that's all I can get the board to do.

I've tried resetting the bios by pulling the motherboard battery, but still get the same symptoms.

There are no options in the bios to turn MEBx on/off. There's supposed to be a ctrl P screen, but it never shows up as I suspect it's defaulting to VGA. But I won't know until I get some wires soldered to the board edge connector. And there's no external pcie slots, so no way to hook up an external GPU.

Is this normal behavior after disabling intel MEBx on a board with intel integrated graphics? And how can I fix this?

Hello Devicemodder,

Based on the information you provided, it seems that disabling Intel MEBx has caused the system to hang and display a black screen on the HDMI connection. However, you are able to access the BIOS on HDMI.

To troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue, I recommend the following steps:

Check BIOS Settings: Ensure that the BIOS settings are correct and that the display settings are not set to default to VGA. You can try resetting the BIOS by removing the motherboard battery and then reinserting it. If this does not work, you may need to access the BIOS settings through the VGA port.

Verify Display Settings: Since the system is configured to use HDMI, you should ensure that the HDMI settings are correct in the BIOS. Sometimes, the BIOS might default to VGA if the HDMI settings are not configured properly.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that the system has the latest firmware updates. Outdated firmware can cause issues with display functionality.

Check for Hardware Issues: If the system is hanging, it could be due to a hardware issue. Check the motherboard and other components for any signs of damage or loose connections.

Try a Different Display: If the system is hanging on the HDMI connection, try connecting a different display to see if the issue persists. This can help isolate whether the problem is with the display or the system.

Check for BIOS Updates: If the BIOS does not have an option to turn MEBx on/off, it might be because the BIOS is not compatible with the system's configuration. Check for BIOS updates that might address this issue.

Best regards,

Vijay N.

Right, so I tried hooking up VGA, (required me to bust out the soldering iron, as VGA is on the edge connector on this board) and I get the same symptoms as I do with HDMI. I'll check the manufacturer site and see if there's a bios update, but I don't think so.

The Intel® AMT feature is usually found in the manageability section of the BIOS. Please note that AMT only works with the embedded graphics port (if HDMI is the embedded port, then you are using the correct video port).

Since you can access the BIOS, please check if the system recognizes the hard drive and the Boot OS partition. The MEBx BIOS is an optional feature for setting up remote access.

According to the LG website, this is an older product. The issue might be related to the hard drive or the operating system.

For more information, please visit the LG support page for your product: LG NC2100 Support

Regards,

Vijay N.

I've checked every section of the regular BIOS multiple times, cleared/reset the BIOS multiple times. there are NO options for turning it back on. As for HDD/OS related issues, the drive boots in other machines, and the BIOS on the LG board does see all drives/ram. i get the same black screen even if i try to boot from a USB flash drive.

All i want to know is how to turn MBEx back on as i believe it'll solve my issue, when there isn't any options in the regular BIOS for it and the CTRL + P screen won't show up.

Hello Devicemodder,

Greetings!

Thank you for your response.
