Console Power Management with TLS Profile

I've configured machines with a TLS Profile and power management action options. I'm able to power off the machine from the Console Actions, however, the "Wake" option does not power the machine on as it does with CIRA configured machines.

I would like to confirm, "Wake" Power on works with TLS Profile machines.

To assist you further, could you please provide the following details:

Intel EMA version in use.
Provisioning mode being attempted (ACM or CCM).
Number of endpoints you are planning to configure.
Type of network connection used (wired or wireless).
Whether the EMA server and the endpoint are on the same network.
Location of the endpoint (remote or on the same network as the EMA server).

Additionally share us the ECT logs from the affected endpoints.

Intel® EMA Configuration Tool (ECT) Logs:

Download the tool from the following link: Intel® EMA Configuration Tool
Installation:

Download and unzip the tool.
Double-click the .msi file and follow the installation prompts.

Run the Tool:
a. Open a command prompt as an administrator (or use Windows PowerShell*).
b. Navigate to the installation folder (default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\EMAConfigTool).
c. Run the following command:
EMAConfigTool.exe --verbose

Just want to confirm, that with TLS configured profile machines, "Wake" which is "Power On" is suppose to work from the console actions.

The power off works, but not "Wake". To power on, I need to access it via Web URL https://hostname:16993

Hi wporter,

If you are using TLS mode for Intel AMT configuration, you need to have another PCs running the Intel EMA agent on the same subnet in order for the Intel AMT features to work. When Intel AMT is configured in TLS mode, the server does not talk to Intel AMT on the PC directly. The communications are routed via Intel EMA agent on another machine on the same subnet. Thus, in order to perform Intel AMT functions, you always need to have at least 2 PCs on the same subnet with Intel AMT agent running.

There are other machines on the same subnet and I can AMT Power it off from the Action item. Power on does not work.

As per the ECT logs shared, we noticed that the Dell OptiPlex 7070 is currently running an outdated BIOS version. To ensure proper functionality and compatibility, we request you to update the BIOS and the following drivers to their latest versions:

1. BIOS:

2. Intel® Management Engine Drivers for Windows 10 and Windows 11:

Once the updates are completed, please reboot the system and verify if the issue persists.

I understand the BIOS/Drivers etc need to be updated. But can you confirm,

Yes, for machines with a TLS-configured profile, the "Wake" (or "Power On") action is expected to work from the console. However, the power cord must be connected to the machine for it to function.

Please note that it is not possible to power on (Wake) a system using TLS-Relay, especially when the operating system is not running. This limitation affects actions that require out-of-band (OOB) capabilities.

Intel® EMA supports both CIRA and TLS-Relay for remote management. However, for full OOB functionality—such as powering on a system—CIRA is the recommended method.

Both CIRA and TLS-Relay require a certificate for Admin Control Mode. For guidance on purchasing and installing the necessary certificate, please refer to the following article:

We recommend configuring your environment to use CIRA to enable full remote management capabilities, including power control.
