A progress report...We have been able to successfully boot to a Microsoft Dart recovery image on a USB stick. I put Unprovisionex.exe on it and ran it from a command prompt. Running the command quickly returns to the C:\ prompt without any notification that AMT has been reset. I've tried

Unprovisionex.exe -host localhost -full -Ent

Anyone done this before?

Our agency has retired some of it's older systems and has not unprovisioned AMT. We used SCCM 2007 to originally provision them and now we need to go back and unprovision them somehow. The hard disks are wiped and the MEBx password is forgotten. Is there a way to boot to a USB drive and run the Unprovision.exe utility locally?

Sandy,

For UnprovisionEx.exe to run correctly, you are required to provide both the username and password of AMT system account.

-Alan

Alan,

Removing the CMOS battery was our only solution. We did not have a password that worked that anyone could remember. We have given the systems to a sister agency and we forgot to unprovision them before letting them go. We had upgraded to SCCM 2012 in the meantime and lost all the password information to boot.
