Hello,

I have an 6230 Wireless Adapter. My WIFI works fine with the intel drivers. The problem is that even though I have installed the latest bluetooth drivers from intel, Windows 7 keeps detecting it as "Generic Bluetooth Adapter"...

Any thoughts?

Just an update.

I go here to download the driver for my bluetooth -> http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034060.htm http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034060.htm

The versioning seems a little bit strange. There are versions from 2.2 up to 3.1 and suddenly there is version 17. All the drivers except the latest (version 17) work. The device is correctly recognised as "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 3.0 + High Speed Adapter". When the latest driver is installed the device falls back to "Generic Bluetooth Device"... What is going on?

Hi Haros, the version number was changed to be similar to the version of Intel® PROSet Wireless Software.

This is the latest version: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23998 https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23998

Kindly shut off your system after the installation is completed and then remove the power cord (and battery if needed). Finally, power on your system normally, this should help you.

So, you made sure that the power was fully drained from the system before you turned it on again?

Did it work properly in the past? Did anything change in software or hardware just before the issue started to appear?

Do you see a code 43 in Device Manager (Control Panel) for this Generic Bluetooth adapter?

Would you provide the brand and model of your system?

Was this wireless adapter an upgrade/replacement or was it installed by the system manufacturer?

I am sorry for the amount of questions but I consider everyone of them necessary since I was expecting that it would be working by now, but hopefully I will be able to suggest more troubleshooting steps after I get more information about the issue.

I fully drained the system. I even waited a bit and pressed the power button of my laptop for some time while there was no battery / ac power.

The module is new. I replaced my old wifi card with this in order to have WiDi support. However, the same model of my laptop (Dell N5110) comes also sometimes with this intel module so I knew that it was compatible. Dell has drivers for that, which work fine -but of course- they are way old (1.x version of the bluetooth driver).

Were should I look for the error code? The generic driver works fine. I don't have any exclamation mark or something.

For me it is weird that the same driver is compatible up to a certain version. The hardware ID should also be in the newer driver versions I guess...

Thanks for the help.

(I might be totally wrong but there is nothing else I can think of).

It is possible that you will need to install an older Bluetooth* software version first and then update incrementally from there. http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/proset-ws/sb/CS-034060.htm Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software — Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology

However, it is also likely that you have a conflict with the Bluetooth* adapters if your system came with a Bluetooth* adapter installed separately from the WiFi adapter you previously removed (being those two separate adapters instead of a single 2 in 1 adapter, such as the one you just installed).

In such case we recommend contacting the system manufacturer so they can provide you with a list of validated adapters for your system and the correct process for the hardware integration.

I never had another Bluetooth adapter installed in mine. and I have installing the lasted updates when ever they come out. and I have noticed that every since I installed 17.1.1406.01. I am having the same issue. Also when I have in intel drivers update scan my computer it still said there in a new version when I have the latest on posted. I thought this issues was supposed to have been solved with the latest BT drivers update. I remember it saying there some where on this form.
