Hi phillipmoose,

We understand that you're having issues with the Intel iwlmvm driver crashing in Ubuntu* on your NUC7i5BNB, we'll be glad to assist you.

Based on our https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi Intel Linux* wireless driver page, make sure that your distribution is running on kernel 4.6 or newer, as the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265 has drivers beginning on this version of the kernel. If so, you can load the firmware hosted on the site to load it on the /lib/firmware directory and load the driver again.

Let us know if you're able to load the driver with the firmware file hosted on the site.

Regards,

Leonardo L

This is Intel after all.

phillipmoose@phillip-intelnuc:~$ journalctl | grep iwlwifi*

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-33.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-32.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-31.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-30.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-29.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-28.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-27.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-26.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-25.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-24.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Direct firmware load for iwlwifi-8265-23.ucode failed with error -2

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: loaded firmware version 22.361476.0 op_mode iwlmvm

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 8265, REV=0x230

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0: base HW address: f8:63:3f:26:f2:05

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwlwifi 0000:3a:00.0 wlp58s0: renamed from wlan0

Jun 26 23:08:01 phillip-intelnuc NetworkManager[826]: [1530050881.4498] rfkill1: found WiFi radio killswitch (at /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.5/0000:3a:00.0/ieee80211/phy0/rfkill1) (driver iwlwifi)

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 488 at /build/linux-hwe-0bNakQ/linux-hwe-4.13.0/drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mvm/tx.c:1393 iwl_mvm_rx_tx_cmd+0x5ad/0x880 [iwlmvm]

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: snd_timer pcbc iwlwifi snd cfg80211 aesni_intel aes_x86_64 crypto_simd glue_helper cryptd intel_cstate intel_rapl_perf rtsx_pci_ms soundcore memstick wmi_bmof shpchp ir_rc6_decoder btusb btrtl hci_uart btbcm serdev ucsi_acpi mei_me typec_ucsi intel_pch_thermal mei typec btqca btintel bluetooth rc_rc6_mce ir_lirc_codec lirc_dev ite_cir rc_core ecdh_generic intel_lpss_acpi intel_lpss tpm_crb acpi_pad mac_hid acpi_als kfifo_buf industrialio ip6t_REJECT nf_reject_ipv6 nf_log_ipv6 xt_hl ip6t_rt nf_conntrack_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv6 ipt_REJECT nf_reject_ipv4 nf_log_ipv4 nf_log_common xt_LOG xt_limit xt_tcpudp xt_addrtype nf_conntrack_ipv4 nf_defrag_ipv4 xt_conntrack ip6table_filter ip6_tables nf_conntrack_netbios_ns nf_conntrack_broadcast nf_nat_ftp nf_nat nf_conntrack_ftp nf_conntrack libcrc32c

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: CPU: 3 PID: 488 Comm: irq/132-iwlwifi Not tainted 4.13.0-45-generic # 50~16.04.1-Ubuntu

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwl_pcie_rx_handle+0x348/0x9a0 [iwlwifi]

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: iwl_pcie_irq_handler+0x475/0x9e0 [iwlwifi]

Jun 26 23:18:26 phillip-intelnuc kernel: WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 488 at /build/linux-hwe-0bNakQ/linux-hwe-4.13.0/drivers/net/wireless/intel/iwlwifi/mvm/tx.c:1393 iwl_mvm_rx_tx_cmd+0x5ad/0x880 [iwlmvm]

Oh.... ok. I get it. Now my problem is being sent away from the message boards. Ok. Fine. I'll provide an update here when my problem is resolved, or not.
