Does the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 card support Wake on Wireless LAN and if so how do I enable it on Windows 7?

I have a Lenovo X1 Yoga with the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 network card and want to enable WoWLAN but I am unable to get the device to wake the laptop from a sleep state. I have run a WOL sniffer tool to confirm that the magic packet is reaching the device, which it is, so it remains to be the device configuration that is preventing wake up. I am running a Win7 OS and the latest drivers for the card.

HI, Yes this is the factory fitted wireless adapter nothing has been changed since receiving the laptop from the vendor.

Thanks, we are speaking to the manufacturer at the moment and testing Intel AMT configurations. Unfortunately though we are unable to connect to the device. We follow the instructions in step 4 of this guide, but then when we follow step 5 we can not connect to the device.

Remember that you need to make sure your computer supports this feature in order to make it work.

There are two types of setup.

1. Enterprise Mode

2. Small Medium Business Mode (SMB)

I have spoken today with a technician from Lenovo who has advised that to enable connection to the device for configuration we will need to install Intel Setup and Configuration Server as AMT v11 doesn't support SMB provisioning mode. So we will be investigating this method now.

We've now spoken to an Intel employee who has given us advise on how to provision AMT using host based configuration for v11... see below.

We can now connect to the device through web ui but WoWLAN is still not possible. At a loss now for what else we can do to get it working.

On the adapter's side, all you have to do is to update the drivers:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25835/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-Windows-7- Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Windows 7* and make sure to enable it in Device Manger. Also, make sure to check with the computer manufacturer if this system supports WoWLAN.

Yes this is something we had tried, thinking it would be this simple too, but it wasn't unfortunately.

Eventually we managed to get it to wake from standby by configuring the following settings in the registry for the wireless adapter.

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0011

EnablePME=1

ReduceSpeedOnPowerDown=0

WakeOn=2

These were settings that we'd found needed to be enabled on other desktop devices to enable WOL, that do not correspond to Settings in the adapter UI.
