CSI information from Intel Wireless Cards

Hi All,

I recently came across an application in my research where I had to extract the wireless channel information (like CSI) from the wireless card. I was amazed that manufacturers (like Intel) do not provide any software packages that extract these information. I found some tool (made by developers, http://dhalperi.github.io/linux-80211n-csitool/ http://dhalperi.github.io/linux-80211n-csitool/) that calculates these information from Intel 5300 WiFi cards, but many people reported instability in the phase measurements provided by this tool. I am sure if Intel itself provided this information from its PHY layer, measurements would be much more accurate and trustworthy. Does anybody know a reason for why the manufacturers do not provide these PHY layer information?

I know this might be a very general question but I really do need to know why getting this information is too difficult.

We reviewed the information you provided and we can inform that Intel does not provide a tool like the one you mention. As you know, it is a 3rd party tool made by the developers with a specific purpose.

You can also obtain adapter details and status for troubleshooting using https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility Intel® System Support Utility.

We understand that there may be 3rd party tools that allow you to get more information from networks and the Wireless environment, however, these are not within our scope of support.
