The 9xxx devices require support for CNVio - which your laptop does not have (it's a few generations too old) - so you definitely cannot use them. You might be able to use the 8xxx adapters, but you will need to check with Lenovo regarding whether they are supported. Many vendors implement white or black lists which can limit what adapters are supported (and force you to purchase your upgrades through them). I do not know if this is the case with this Lenovo product - but only Lenovo can answer this question.
