Hello,

I have an HP Envy x360 2-in-1 that is suffering from dropped connections for a

few months. It's mainly a nuisance until I have to download a large file. When I'm

browsing the web all I have to do is turn my wifi off and on to restore the

connection.

I've updated the driver twice with no change in behavior. I've also updated the BIOS

on this Windows 10 1909 machine.

This problem started after Centurylink upgraded my DSL service. This included

a new DSL modem. I checked for a firmware upgrade, but the modem was

up-to-date. I have not altered any advanced modem settings. Today, for the first

time, I tried two public wi-fi services and neither had any drops. So, the

problem must be at home.

I've also tried moving close to the router, changing the wifi channel, reverting to

wireless-b from wireless-g (I have an old Linksys wireless-g, WRT54GL) without

success. Yesterday, I experimented with some of the advanced adapter settings,

such as wireless mode and channel width (to 20Mhz from auto), but these also

failed. When I used the public wifi all these settings were defaults (dual band, auto).

I have not checked bluetooth behavior and my other devices never drop a

connection.

I've attached a SSU report and a wlan report.

Any suggestions are welcome!

HP Envy x360 15m-dr0xxx (new Nov 2019, original wlan hardware)

    Netwfw08.sys 21.80.5.1

    vwifibus.sys 10.0.18362.1

bolbr, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In reference to this case, just to let you know, at this point pretty much you tried all the troubleshooting steps that we recommend for this scenario.

Everything means that the problem is related to the Router/Modem/Access Point settings, based on the fact that "the problem started after Centurylink upgraded the DSL service. This included a new DSL modem" and that "tried two public wi-fi services and neither had any drops", which means that the Wireless driver and the Intel® Wireless card are working properly and there are no hardware issues.

So, the next thing to do will be to get in contact directly with the Router/Modem/Access Point manufacturer for them to verify the device settings and make sure it is properly configured.

As an alternative, you can always try to flush the DNS, to do that just open the command prompt and enter ipconfig /flushdns.

Regards,

Albert R.

Intel Customer Support Technician

A Contingent Worker at Intel

I took a look at the SSU report and noted all the entries for the Dimension4

service failing to start. I had removed this app, but the service was not removed!

I just deleted the service, so that entry should be eliminated. I thought I'd

post this even though it's not related to my problem.

I did notice some entries regarding the 9560 "failure"? One regards TfdQueue

Not so fast!

I fired up my ASUS TS10 Stick PC with a Qualcomm/Atheros QCA9377 wireless

on the same home network. I started a 1GB download and watched. After 500GB

I gave up. NO DROPS! Admittedly, it was a slower download - capped at about

5Mbps (The ASUS is running Windows 10 1809).

On the other hand, the HP/Intel 9560 download would rise to at least 10Mbps,

sometimes a full 15Mbps DSL limit, but always drops the connection after

100-150MB for the same file. I'm beginning to think the DSL upgrade was

coincidental with some other cause, maybe a Windows 10 update or a 9560 driver

update. Whatever, I still have an issue and it definitely involves the HP/Intel 9560

combination! I'd appreciate further help.

bolbr, Thank you very much for providing that information.

In this case, since you are using Windows 10 1909, we can try to run all the Windows updates to install version 2004.

After that, please install Intel® Generic Wireless driver version 21.120.0 and please let us know the results of trying these steps:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29816/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-and-Drivers-for-IT-Admins?product=99446

For testing purposes, do you have the option to test the Wired connection just to confirm if the behavior is the same?

Regards,

Albert R.

Intel Customer Support Technician

A Contingent Worker at Intel

I seem to have the same problems with this wireless adapter.

Is it correct that my driver details show files like:

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\Netwfw08.dat"

while I'm on Windows 10, 64 bit?

It seems to me this indicates 32 bits and Windows 8.

For the context:

I'm on a lovely Asus Zenbook N751J and had no problems until a week ago, starting with dropping my Bluebtooth audio. Later I noticed that also the Wifi was gone (no Bluetooth & Wifi icons on Windows). Problems seem related, since I managed to get both working for a very short while. I downloaded the latest driver from WiFi_22.0.0_Driver64_Win10.zip, unzipped it and did a manual driver update, which only kept saying that I already have the latest driver. The driver details show the same date 16/4/20 and version 21.90.2.1. At the moment my Wifi is back (multiple networks visible), but Bluetooth remains switched off (no icon). The Network adapter error (yellow triangle, could not start) has gone, so I hope Bluetooth will be back after a reboot.

Thank you Scott, that solved the problem! I downloaded the file BT_22.00.0_64_Win10.exe and ran it as Administrator. My Asus Zenbook is back full zen again, yehay!

Well the pleasure lasted only a day. Next day Bluebooth was again disabled. I reran the downloaded BT_22.00.0_64_Win10.exe and did the Repair and after a restart I had Bluetooth back no again. So, yes it works, but there's something somehow that disables my Bluetooth.

The Wifi problem didn't return and, for me now, Bluetooth isn't the most important thing, so I'll survive, but it'd be great if someone had the golden tip for me.

Too bad! The same Wi-Fi problem is back. Laptop use limited to cable connection. It all worked fine. Driver updates: no effect. Disable & enable Wi-Fi adapter did return Wi-Fi earlier, but not any more. Total mystery what's going on here.
