AX201 unstable ubuntu 22.04 (kernel 5.15.0)

Hello,

My wifi connexion is very unstable with iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-66.ucode firmware

Works better with iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-48.ucode but becomes unstable after a few hours

Have tried iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-63.ucode but with not much success than iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-66.ucode.

Not sure if it is relevant to test all firmwares ???

Any ideas ?

In order to better assist you, please provide the following:

1. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed on your computer or did you change/install the adapter to this one?

2. Is this a laptop or desktop computer?

3. What is the brand and model name of your laptop or motherboard (if desktop computer)?

4. Have you tested this issue with Windows 10 or Windows 11?

5. Was this working before? If so, which firmware was working?

6. Is the issue present with both bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz)?

This is an original adapter on a Clevo Laptop NK70KJ

Not tested in windows

Not sure if it is new or not, the regular user says it never worked well ... so...

I m trying with 2.4 GHz band only, and I didn't experienced problems since this morning. I ll keep you informed on a more extended period of time

also, I would appreciate it if you share the following information once the issue comes back:

1. Can you test the 5GHz band to confirm if the issue is present with both bands?

2. What was the firmware version that was not giving you the issue?

The user didn't get any more unstabilities since I switched to 2.4 GHz band.

Didn't get yet the opportunity to check if 5 GHz band is not OK.

I ll make an update when it is done !

Concerning the firmware, I switched back to iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-66.ucode

Before disabling 5GHz band, no firmware was satisfactory. I think it was more stable with iwlwifi-Quz-a0-hr-b0-48.ucode

Thanks for the information provided. In order to investigate this issue further I would like to confirm the following:

1. Provide the Intel® System Support Utility for the Linux* Operating System for more details:

2. Run the following commands and send us the outcome:

modinfo iwlwifi > If there is no output, then the module isn’t installed this is the distribution installation issue.
lsmod | grep iwlwifi > If the result is empty, the driver hasn't been loaded. Most likely to be a distribution issue.
To verify, please type: dmesg | grep iwlwifi > If the result is empty, the driver wasn’t initialized and this is a distribution issue. If there is a result populated, proceed with the next step.
dmesg | grep “no suitable firmware found!” > If the result is not empty, it means you don't have a suitable FW (api mentioned in the dmesg).
Please visit here: https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi for supported FW, or here https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/ for the latest versions.

3. If the above steps don't work, collect the debug data:

Type: dmesg | grep ASSERT

If the output is empty, please follow this wiki: https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi/debugging to extract dmesg and trace-cmd.

If the output has value, please collect it from the wiki FW dump too.

I recommend you check this issue with Clevo to confirm if there is a malfunction with the laptop or if there is an incompatibility with Linux.
