The infamous AX200, poor speed.

Hi;

Doing a quick search on here seems that the AX200-based chips suffer from speed and compatibility issues.

This is the OEM card in my MSI MB and I cannot get it to connect at wifi 6 speeds, to my ZTE mc801a which is capable of wifi 6 2x2 MIMO .

My PC refuses to connect at AX link speeds and I've tried pretty much everything I can think of. things I've tried.

clean install of latest drivers on wifi and BT
clean install of old drivers (suggested here)
separated out 2.4 and 5ghz bands on the router
positioned the router next to the PC (for testing)
set the recommended intel settings for ax from this website
different antennas

All this and still the same result, which is odd, my Apple devices connect with much faster speeds, my PC gets an average DL speed of about 150/200mbs and my iPad and Mac about 500-600mbs!

The odd thing is, that my router's wifi settings says that the 5Ghz band only has a/n/ac/ax speeds but the Windows network page says it's connected via 802.11g but on the 5Ghz band.....?

Anyone else got any ideas?

In order to better assist you, please try the following:

1. Check with MSI to confirm that you have the latest BIOS version installed.

HI,

Thanks for the reply, yes I always have the latest bios (even though it shouldn't affect the wifi driver)

That isn't a customised driver it's just an older Intel driver, Intel WIFI Driver22.180.0.42023-01-16. I've tried this driver previously and currently have 22.230.0.8 installed, they both function the exact same.

As per point 5 in my op, I have used the recommended adapter settings.

Anything else to try or do these cards not work as advertised?!

Hello Onis,

Thanks for your patience. In this case, I noticed that you have the BIOS version 1.90 and the latest one is 7C92v1E. I recommend you check with MSI to confirm that you have the latest BIOS and steps to install it if you do not have the latest version installed.

If the update did not work, I advise you to get in contact with MSI so they can test further on their device and confirm if there are hardware or software issues with the computer.
