Hi -,

How can I enable 6GHz channel for monitor mode on Ubuntu System?

I can see that if Intel AX210 in managed mode and scan the Beacon with CountryCode US, the 6GHz channel will be enabled.

But for monitor mode, the command iw scan command does not support.

How can I enable 6GHz channel for monitor mode?

Hello Tester_L,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I understand that you are unable to connect to the 6GHz band with Ubuntu.

I would like to let you know that issue is not caused by Intel Wi-Fi 6E products. It's because the current Ubuntu/Network Manager has not fully implemented the WPA3 security in WiFi 6E/6GHz. While NetworkManager has support for SAE (and OWE), the Linux_based OS may not have support for SAE with H2E (Hash to Element) which is mandatory on 6GHz and is required by the AP's firmware.

I recommend you to use the OWE security since the Wi-Fi 6E/6GHz should work and also make sure that you are running the latest kernel version.

If the issue persists, let me know.

Regards,

Deivid A.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hi Deivid,

Thank you for your response. My issue is not the 6GHz band not work at all. 6GHz channel can work at client mode (managed mode shown from iwconfig). What I want is using the Intel AX210 to capture 6GHz packets. So I need the AX210 to work at Monitor mode. But if I change the mode to Monitor (iwconfig wlp5s0 mode monitor) , the 6GHz channel has been disabled. I think this is controlled by intel driver. Is there any method to enable 6GHz channel for monitor mode?

- Thank you -
