7260 hardware/driver compatibility issue?

1) Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 wi-fi driver v 17.13.2.2 dated 11/17/2014 works

2) (updated) driver v 17.13.12.1 dated 12/16/2014 gives 'cannot detect hardware' error message so no wi-fi.

3)Reason?

Ad) Lenovo Ultrabook Yoga ThinkPad win v8.1 (I won't upgrade to win 10 until this is fixed)

We recommend that you contact the OEM - http://www.intel.com/support/oems.htm Computer Manufacturer Support in order to obtain the latest drivers from them. As as second option, you can try our drivers found in our Download Center.You can download them from the links below.

NOT for win10 - need for win v8.1 - win10 crashed my pc, seems sucky so sticking with win8 - maybe win10 driver not backwards compatible - it all works with rollback so I'm good otherwise
