After updating my wireless drivers, I noted that the moment I have a game running for more than a minute, it produces a Code 10 to my NIC. This forces me to:

a) disable the device then enable it. If this does not work, I
b) uninstall the device along with its software then reinstall -- This sometimes requests I restart my laptop. This only gets it to work outside of gaming but any game played brings back the code 10. If this does not work,
c) I troubleshoot and the results are I either perform a networking reset after which it prompts me to restart and IS NOT guaranteed to fix the issue or it informs me with a message saying there is an issue with the driver for the adapter

I also had this issue with the previous driver and its driving me insane.

Anyone with a clue on how to solve this?

Thank you

May I know what device are you using? May I know the brand and model of your device?

2. What was the previous wireless version that was working with your device?

3. Are you downloading the driver for Intel Download Center? or from your laptop manufacturer?

Regards,

Ernesto C.

Intel Customer Support Engineer

Hi @Ernesto_C_Intel1

To answer your questions,

1. HP OMEN 15 (The 2018 variant)
2. Well, as it stands none of the versions work while gaming. There have also been rare instances where it flat out doesnt work while off gaming. Current version in my rig is v23.100.0.4 I believe which is the latest for the 9560, unless they have another
3. Yes I am downloading my driver from Intel. I tried to search for the driver on HP website but I dont think I got any

I had resolved and purchased an external wireless adapter and have my internal one disabled throughout.
The error code it gives whenever it stops working, in the event viewer, is tied to a hardware related problem so I just decided to opt for a external adapter

Before we proceed, please note that this is an OEM device, we will try to assist you with general troubleshooting steps even if it’s something not traditionally covered in our support. However, if the issue still persists, you will have to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer of your device. Your device manufacturer may have altered features, incorporated customizations, or made other changes to some components for better compatibility with your system.

Based on the work around that you've mentioned, it appears that you've already checked Intel's online article regarding the Code 10 errors.

Codes 10, 22, 28, 31, 43 or 45 Errors in Device Manager for Bluetooth® or Wireless (Wi-Fi) Devices - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000031150/wireless/wireless-software.html

I would like to confirm if you've followed the troubleshooting prescribed in the article to address your issue with the error message and connectivity issues with the wireless card?

Regards,

Ernesto C.

Intel Customer Support Engineer

Hello again @Ernesto_C_Intel1

In regards to the article, I had opened the laptop to see if there would be any signs of physical damage to the NIC and had removed the battery prior so I think that would suffice as a cold reboot. I had also performed clean installation: just uninstalling the adapter while deleting its software and restarting then installing the intel driver when laptop boots up.

As for the OEM situation, I had downloaded some diagnostic tools from HP which had allowed me to update my BIOS as well as Bluetooth and the wireless adapter.

A few things to note and update:
1. Today I have managed to game while having the internal NIC enabled and the external one disabled and no code 10 or 43 errors. I dont think the same will happen tomorrow but its to note that I had started playing games(if needed, it was League of Legends) and I decided to disable the external one but keep it connected to the laptop and re-enable the internal one and I had no issues
2. When I first got the external NIC, it forced my rig to auto-disable the internal NIC but from yesterday, both were enabled. Very minor but I thought I should point it out. Relating to point no 1, having both of them working made my connections poor (getting 10000ms+). Dunno whether its a NIC issue or just our network hitting the hay for a moment but pointing this out

3. Drivers listed on the HP store for my rig specifically seem to be outdated yet when using the HP diagnostic tool, I am informed drivers are up to date. Seeing drivers for 2020 on the HP website store is leaving me a bit skeptical. Should I try and replace the drivers for all and see which ones work or just leave them as is? The laptop is from 2018 so I'm assuming software support was halted

Thank you. A bit to digest but I think Ive said what you needed. If not, please clarify

Hi BluSClus,

Thank you for the update. I'm glad to know you've already followed the article that I've mentioned earlier. The steps mentioned in the article eliminates the potential that the root cause of the issue is with the wireless card driver being corrupted.

Regarding the OEM drivers, it is still advisable to use it since it has been specifically engineered by your laptop manufacturer to run with your laptop and leverage the design of your system. If you need to install the Intel Generic wireless drivers, it is free to download here:

Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11* - https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19351/intel-wireless-wi-fi-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html

Kindly advise if the issue still persists

Regards,

Ernesto C.

Intel Customer Support Engineer
