Slow Wifi with BE200 NGW

I am using the Intel BE200NGW Network Card in 2 identical linux machines to transfer data between them via a wireless Router. After running the setup for 5-6 days continuously without restarting the router or the PCs, the connection starts to drop (ping times become huge). The issue gets temporarily solved if I restart the router and the PCs, only to reoccur again after running for some time.

System Information:
- Distribution: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Kernel Version: 6.8.0-40-generic

- Firmware Version: 86.fb5c9aeb.0 gl-c0-fm-c0-86.ucode

I also get a few warnings related to iwlwifi, as seen below:

[Tue Sep 17 09:25:19 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:19 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Detected crf-id 0x2001910, cnv-id 0x2001910 wfpm id 0x80000000
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:19 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: PCI dev 272b/00f4, rev=0x472, rfid=0x112200
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:19 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: TLV_FW_FSEQ_VERSION: FSEQ Version: 0.0.4.125
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:19 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: loaded firmware version 86.fb5c9aeb.0 gl-c0-fm-c0-86.ucode op_mode iwlmvm
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Detected Intel(R) TBD Bz device, REV=0x472
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: WRT: Invalid buffer destination
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: loaded PNVM version da3b5cf2
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Detected RF FM, rfid=0x112200
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: base HW address: a0:02:a5:60:11:25
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: iwlmvm doesn't allow to disable BT Coex, check bt_coex_active module parameter
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:20 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlp4s0f0: renamed from wlan0
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:21 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: WRT: Invalid buffer destination
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:21 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0: Registered PHC clock: iwlwifi-PTP, with index: 1
[Tue Sep 17 09:25:25 2024] iwlwifi 0000:04:00.0 wlp4s0f0: disabling HT/VHT/HE as WMM/QoS is not supported by the AP

Output of lspci:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series SoC Transaction Register (rev 11)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Graphics & Display (rev 11)
00:13.0 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800 Series SATA AHCI Controller (rev 11)
00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx, Celeron N2000 Series USB xHCI (rev 11)
00:1a.0 Encryption controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Trusted Execution Engine (rev 11)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series High Definition Audio Controller (rev 11)
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800 Series PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev 11)
00:1c.1 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800 Series PCI Express Root Port 2 (rev 11)
00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800 Series PCI Express Root Port 3 (rev 11)
00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800 Series PCI Express Root Port 4 (rev 11)
00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series USB EHCI (rev 11)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Power Control Unit (rev 11)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation Atom Processor E3800/CE2700 Series SMBus Controller (rev 11)
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation I210 Gigabit Network Connection (rev 03)
04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Device 272b (rev 1a)

I tried using the tool SSU tool but it seems that the tool is not supported on the Ubuntu architecture I have installed presently (22.04, kernel 6.8.0-40-generic).

Hello AnirudhSP,

It seems that you're having connectivity issues with Intel BE200NGW. For me to address this issue properly, please share the details below.

1. Was this working fine before or was this issue present from the start?

2. Were you able to have wireless connection in a normal/expected performance before?

3. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

4. Are you able to reproduce the same issue while on hardwired connection?

Please also try to generate SSU report using this link.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Jed G.

Intel Customer Support Technician
