Is anyone else experiencing their BE200 WiFI adapter randomly disappearind from device manager?

I have an Intel BE200 WiFi adapter that I am using in a Lenovo FLEX 4, which currently has Windows 10 Pro (will do an upgrade to Windows 11 24H2 eventually with since it is using an Intel Kaby lake CPU), as well as Ubuntu 24.04.

In Windows 10 Pro, while the WiFi adapter performs similarly to the previously installed Intel AX210, once in a while at random, the WiFi adapter will disappear from the device manager, until I restart or simply plate the laptop into standby and then wake it again, then the WiFi adapter appears again and works normally until the issue happens again. When the issue is not happening on windows, the adapter will seem to work well, even hitting over 2Gbps on iperf. Once the issue happens, the Wifi adapter disappears, but Bluetooth remains functional.

Under Ubuntu, the issue does not happen and the WiFi Adapter can be used indefinitely without it disappearing or becoming unusable.

While for proper WiFi 7 support, windows 11 is needed, the strange issue is the WiFi adapter randomly disappearing from device manager under windows 10.

The current latest driver as of 10/16/2024 is 23.80.1.3 though other versions have experienced this issue as well.

With this in mind, has anyone else encountered this issue? (This issue is limited to just the BE200, the AX210 does not have this issue).

Hello Razor512,

I understand that you're having issues since the Wi-Fi adapter keeps disappearing from device manager. Please share the information below for me to properly handle this concern.

1. Is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

2. Was this working fine before?

3. Did you make any recent changes to the system?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

I hope to hear from you soon!

Best regards,

Jed G.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Sorry for the late reply. The WiFi adapter was an aftermarket upgrade (purchased on newegg). Strangely enough, with a more recent driver update, the issue has not happened for a number of weeks now, even though the issue was not listed as a bug fix on the release notes.

Hello Razor512,

I'm glad to hear that after a driver update, the issue is not observed. Since you mentioned that the Wi-Fi adapter was an upgrade, it is also important to understand that it may not work due to hardware or software compatibility issues or dependencies. An Intel® Wireless Adapter installed in a system that is being sold on the market doesn't necessarily mean that same wireless adapter can be used or installed in any other systems.

I recommend that you still get in touch with your manufacturer to get their approval on the upgrade or integration that has been performed on the system.

For reference: Regulatory Information Regarding Wireless Hardware Installation or Upgrade

Should you have other questions or concerns, please let me know.

Best regards,

Jed G.

Intel Customer Support Technician
