WiFi Card (WiFi 7 BE1750W) unable to connect with 5GHz at 160MHz

Hello,

I have a new machine, MSI Prestige 13 AI Evo A1MG.

The WiFi Card is (Killer(TM) Wi-Fi 7 BE1750W 320 MHZ Wireless Network Adapter (BE200D2W). It is working fine with greater performance at 2.4GHz and 6GHz Wifi.

But I observed that it is not working well at 5GHz. It always stays at 80MHz Channel Width instead of 160MHz. And it is doing the same with all 5GHz connections, All of them showing max 80MHz.

Means there is a bottleneck or a maximum cap with this WiFi card.

When I tried to connect same SSID with another laptop, it showed me 160MHz.

Can someone confirm me?

Is there a problem with this card? (Specifically with WiFi 5GHz)

Upon reviewing the initial post, it seems that you're having issues with using the 5GHz band at 160MHz. To address this properly, please share the information below.

1. Since this is a new laptop, is this the original adapter that came pre-installed in your system, or have you changed/installed a new adapter recently?

2. Have you checked if this issue happens on different networks?

3. Is this issue happening at home, office environment or both?

4. Are you utilizing drivers from Intel or MSI?

Additionally, to have a better understanding of your system configuration and components please generate System Support Utility (SSU) report. Please follow instructions here and send the report - How to get the Intel® System Support Utility Logs on Windows*

Thanks for the reply.

Well, Yes, I only have the issue with the 5 GHz Wireless Network.

Below are your answers.

1. Its original pre-installed adapter.

2. Yes, all other 5GHz networks are also showing 80MHz instead of 160MHz.

3. Yes, I faced this issue at the office & home as well.

4. Looks it is from Intel (device manager details attached).

Unfortunatly issue was not resolved through the MSI drivers as well.

Thank you for your efforts, and I’m sorry to hear that the issue persists despite using the drivers provided by MSI.

Upon further review, I have confirmed that your wireless card, the BE1750, does not support the 160 MHz channel width. Currently, only the following Intel® Wireless Adapters support 160 MHz:

This limitation is the reason you are observing a maximum channel width of 80 MHz.

I really understand your confusion as the card supports 320MHz@6GHz but unfortunately, the frequency that you're looking forward to isn't compatible. I also suggest that you check with your OEM to get more information as they are more knowledgeable with the system that you currently have.

Thank you for your update. After reviewing your case, I can confirm that your BE1750 wireless card does not support the 160 MHz channel width. This explains why you’re limited to 80 MHz despite updating to the latest drivers from MSI. Currently, only specific Intel® adapters, such as the AX200, AX210, and BE200 series, support 160 MHz operation. For further details, please refer to Intel’s official article on 160 MHz support.

What you’re observing is actually expected behavior for the Killer Wi-Fi 7 BE1750W (BE200D2W). This adapter does not support 160 MHz channel width on the 5 GHz band only on 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E/7). On 5 GHz, the maximum 192.168.0.1 supported channel width is 80 MHz, which explains why all your 5 GHz connections stay capped at that width. Other devices that show 160 MHz on 5 GHz likely use a different Wi-Fi adapter that supports that feature.
