Good day,

Intel Driver and Support Assistant recommended the software be updated but I keep running into error 1920:

"Error 1920. Service Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel(R) XTU) (XtuService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Now. I've troubleshooted in a number of ways:

1. I've retried,

2. Downloaded the installer and tried to install directly from the download

3. Uninstalled the Killer Drivers

4. Installed XTU

5. Verified that XtuService is running

6. Installed from downloaded installer

7. Installed from Driver and Support Assistant

Note: The exact name of the service on my PC is 'XTUOCDriverService'.

It's not a critical update so it's not urgent, but it'll bug me that the app has a red dot that I can't do anything with.

I'm also not uploading the log since it might have information I don't want to just upload for everyone to see.

Thanks for the help in resolving this issue.

I do not know if this actually worked or not. Intel XTU was already uninstalled.

I had to uninstall "Killer Performance Driver Suite UWD" because it was the only option at the time. And then the update notification went away. I reinstalled the Suite but when it paused here:

I manually stopped the service in the Windows Services dialog and it continued to install. I restarted my PC, and now there is no update notification, but the version doesn't match:

I am marking this as the solution, but I do not know if this resolved anything.

I hope this message finds you well.

By the way, before closing this request and for me to document the fix.

Please verify with the the exact version of the Killer™ Performance Driver Suite by checking Apps & Features. Kindly refer on the link below:

Let me also request for the screenshot of the version displayed under the Killer™ Performance Driver Suite, as it appears the version shown in IDSA is the latest driver. Here is a sample screenshot:

Good day,

I do not think the issue is entirely resolved, but I've tried many proposed solutions at this point and none of them have worked to get the "correct" version installed.

This is the version number that is showing through Control Panel's Programs and Features

This is the version shown through Windows' "Installed Apps"

I would attach the executable, but I understand the security risk, so this screenshot is the best I can do to show that I've been running the correct version, as well as you've seen screenshots from your own Driver % Support Assistant app:

It seems the only thing preventing me from getting the "correct version" is the XTU Service.

Hi Mike_intel,

I just tried to update as well and I got the error 1920 saying my XTU didnt have correct permissions or isn't running.

I went into the system.mcs and logged in as well as started the application but it still continued having the error code.

Is there another fix for this and/or is this update even necessary.

Respectfully,

Kyle D.
