NUC DC3217IYE and Intel 3160HMW Dual Band WiFi Bluetooth PCIe card (half size)

Hello,

I have a Nuc DC3217IYE and I just plugged a PCIe card so to add bluetooth (and wifi).

The card is an Intel 3160HMW Dual Band WiFi Bluetooth PCIe half-size card. I also installed the latest drivers (Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers and Intel Wireless Bluetooth Software for Windows 10 - 64bit version)

I can now see a bluetooth icon (but no Wifi ?) but in any case, Windows doesn't seem to detect anything : I tried to detect my android smartphone or pair my bluetooth speaker = nothing found

Is there something I forgot or that I am missing ?

I recently noted Intel Customer Support saying that the Bluetooth package needs to be installed before the WiFi package (though I previously thought it didn't matter). I suggest that you

(a) uninstall the two driver packages that you currently have installed

(b) reboot (important!)

We understand you are not able to connect to WiFi nor Bluetooth* after installing the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 in your NUC. Please check the following and let us know if this helps:

- Make sure that the antennas are firmly plugged to the connectors of the wireless adapter, as seen in step 3 of the http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/nuc-kits/DC3217IYE_IntegrationGuide06.pdf Intel® NUC Kit DC3217IYE Integration Guide, and in pages 5-6 of the http://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/boardsandkits/nuc-kits/DC3217IYE_UserGuide02.pdf Intel® NUC Kit DC3217IYE User Guide.

- Do a clean install of the recommended driver versions for your new adapter:

I recently set up the same NUC, and had the same exact issue a couple days later. After the wireless died, I just deleted the drivers and only reinstalled the wireless driver, It's been fine for over three months so far. This system is all in one, the NUC ismounted to the back of the monitor on a VESA plate. It functions as a recipe center for my wife for going on three months. No Bluetooth really needed in this instance. So perhaps if you don't need it, then don't install it.

With discontinued devices like this, it is very important to install only the last driver package that included support for this device. Do not install any subsequent driver packages (incorrectly) being offered by iDSA or Windows Update.

The final driver packages are provided in my share (here: Legacy Wireless Drivers). You specifically want the driver packages in folder "Wireless-N 7260 and Wireless-AC 3160, 7260, 7265-C".

You need to clean install these drivers. I have a process for this:

If you haven't already, download to your PC - but do not install just yet - the (for your case) 21.10.1 Bluetooth and Wireless driver packages.
Most important! Disable Internet access. Unplug Ethernet cable and/or disable wireless. Keep disabled until told to re-enable. Note this Wireless disable *must* be of type that will persist (stay disabled) across reboots.
From the Apps & Features applet, check for instances of Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and Intel Wireless Bluetooth. If none, skip to Step 6.
Uninstall each instance of Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and/or Intel Wireless Bluetooth that is present. When prompted, choose "Discard Settings".
Manually reboot your computer, keeping Internet access disabled throughout.
From the Device Manager applet, check the Network Adapters section for an entry for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 and check the Bluetooth section for an entry for Intel Wireless Bluetooth that has an intel driver associated with it. If neither is the case, go forward to Step 12.
Right click on the entry for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 and uninstall it, choosing (checkmark) Delete the driver software for this device.
Repeat step 7 until the option to Delete the driver software for this device is greyed out.
Right click on the entry for Intel Wireless Bluetooth and open its properties. If it has an Intel driver associated with it, then uninstall it, choosing to (checkmark) Delete the driver software for this device.
Repeat step 9 until the option to Delete the driver software for this device is not offered (greyed out).
Go back to Step 5.
Install the downloaded Bluetooth driver package (my rule: always install Bluetooth first).
Install the downloaded Wireless driver package.
Manually shutdown and reboot your computer.
Reenable Internet access. Restore Ethernet cable and/or reenable wireless.
Test.

Note: It sometimes takes multiple uninstall (and reboot) cycles to clean out the old installations, so don't give up on the process. If you get to, say, 10 cycles, stop there and attempt the installation of the latest drivers.
