Hello, I have connection issue with my Bluetooth 5.4 headset Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro.
Since I bought this headset, I cannot connect it to my laptop Lenovo ThinkPad Gen 3 with Intel Wireless Bluetooth AX200 (Bluetooth version 5.2) without turn off Bluetooth on laptop and turn it on again.
If I don't do this procedure my headset is stuck on infinity connection loop. Headset is connected and instantly disconnected, but every time is connected only as output device without microphone.
In case when I turn of Bluetooth and turn it on then my headset is connected correctly as output device and input device (with microphone).
I tried everything what can affect my connectivity issue: Update to latest Intel driver, uninstall Bluetooth driver and install latest driver from Lenovo, delete all paired Bluetooth devices and pair it again, multiple times reset to factory settings my headset.

If I want to have my Bluetooth headset successfully connected to my laptop after I turn off Bluetooth on my laptop and turn it on, headset need to be connected as a first device. I'm using multiple Bluetooth devices connected to my laptop. Keyboard Logitech MX Keys and mouse Logitech MX Masters 3 connected via Bluetooth.

Hello Frostman85,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

I understand you're experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues with your Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro. You may try the following steps below:

1) For the Bluetooth Power Management, go to:

Device Manager → Bluetooth → Intel Wireless Bluetooth → Properties → Power Management

Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"

2) Try connecting the headset first before other Bluetooth devices. Consider temporarily disconnecting the Logitech devices during initial pairing

To better diagnose this issue, please provide the following details:

1) Press Windows + R → type "msinfo32" → take a screenshot of System Summary showing:

System manufacturer, model, processor, BIOS version/date

2) Go to Device Manager → Bluetooth → Intel Wireless Bluetooth → Properties → Driver tab

Share a screenshot of the driver details

3) Is the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 original to your Lenovo ThinkPad Gen 3 or an upgrade/replacement?

4) Have you tested the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro on another system?

5) Have you tested other Bluetooth audio devices on your ThinkPad?

Are you running Windows 11 with the latest updates?

Does the issue occur when only the headset is connected (no other Bluetooth devices)?

Looking forward to resolving this for you.

Best regard,

JeanetteC.

Intel Customer Support Technician

Hello JeanetteC. ,

thank you for your support. Let me answer to all of your questions.

I always using my Bluetooth devices with unchecked this option in my Bluetooth adapter.

I already tried it. Nothing changed.

Yes, it's factory default Bluetooth module.

Yes, of course I'm using it without any issue with my mobile phone Xiaomi 13T Pro and my wife using same Bluetooth headset (Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro) with her laptop also with Intel Wireless Bluetooth module but in her laptop is installed different Bluetooth model Intel Wireless Bluetooth AX201 without any issue.

Yes, I tested also with Huawei Huawei FreeBuds Pro and with this Bluetooth headset I have no connection issue. Maybe it can be related with fact that Huawei headset is based on Bluetooth 5.2 version but Xiaomi is based on Bluetooth 5.4 version and my laptop Bluetooth module is based on Bluetooth 5.2. I know that all Bluetooth versions should be backward compatible in theory of course.

Yes, I'm using latest Windows 11 version 25H2 with latest Bluetooth drivers from Intel and latest BIOS version from Lenovo. I also tried to use latest Lenovo Bluetooth drivers but again with any change related with my Bluetooth connection issue.

Yes, the issue occurs also in case when I have only Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro connected without any other Bluetooth devices.

I Restored default settings in my Bluetooth headset and paired again with laptop, but still no change in my connectivity issue. All Bluetooth devices working correctly with my laptop except my Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro headset which is still very strange for me.

I know that your support is limited since I'm using Bluetooth module integrated to my laptop by Lenovo, but I would like to understand which customer support I should contact. I mean Lenovo or Xiaomi. Do you know if exists some tool or app which help me at least diagnose why I can't connect my Bluetooth headset without disable and enable my Intel Wireless Bluetooth AX200 in my laptop?

Thank you.

Michal

Helo Frostman85,

Thank you again for your detailed update and for trying the latest Intel Bluetooth drivers.

Since your Bluetooth module is integrated by Lenovo and you are encountering issues specifically with your Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro headset, I recommend performing a clean installation of the latest OEM Bluetooth driver provided by Lenovo rather than using the generic Intel driver. OEM drivers often include customizations and fixes tailored to the specific hardware and BIOS configurations of the laptop, which can enhance compatibility and help resolve connectivity problems.

Before proceeding with the driver installation, please first contact Lenovo support to assist you with updating your BIOS firmware to the latest version (1.24). After updating, ensure you load the default BIOS settings. Once this is complete, please perform the clean installation again, this time using the latest Bluetooth driver from Lenovo’s driver page (version 23.120.0.4).

Additionally, restoring your Bluetooth headset to factory defaults and re-pairing it—as you have already done—is a good troubleshooting step.

While I await the results of these steps, I will also check on the diagnostic tool or app you requested.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

Intel Customer Support Technician

My issues with connection with my Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro headset is still present.

At least I notice one strange detail. I tried to pair my Bluetooth headset with my Lenovo Legion GO handheld PC which has Bluetooth module from MediaTek. In general I don't have any connection issues with my Bluetooth headset, but when I put earbuds to the case and close it (headset should disconnect) after couple of minutes I still saw on my Legion GO headset was connected and never disconnected even when I moved headset to too far distance from Legion GO.

After this experience I have suspension that something is not correctly implemented in Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro firmware.

JeanetteC., did you find any diagnostic tool which help me to diagnose my Bluetooth connectivity issue ?

Thank you for all your effort.

Helo Frostman85,

I haven't received any reply for few days now. I just hope to know if you were able to try the additional recommended steps and if it helped.

You may also try to proceed with clean installation of the last driver available for Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200, (BT-24.10.0-64UWD-Win10-Win11.exe) for the following Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (Gig+) products:

Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (Gig+)

Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (Gig+) Desktop Kit

Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (x/w)

Please be aware that driver version 24.10.0.4 is the last available version of the wireless drivers for these products. This software has reached the end of its Life, and no additional support will be provided to these drivers.

Windows® 10 64-bit and Windows 11*:

Package version 24.10.0

Driver version 24.10.0.4 for Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (Gig+)

Given your suspicion that the issue may be related to the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro firmware implementation, I'd suggest contacting Xiaomi's support team for the Buds 5 Pro to get specialized help with this device.

I will go ahead and close this thread. Should you need assistance in the future, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.

Sincerely,

JeanetteC.

Intel Customer Support Technician
