Hello WOWLAN14,

Thank you for posting on the Intel Community.

<LI-WRAPPER></LI-WRAPPER>

Wake-on-LAN functionality requires several system components and settings to be configured correctly.

These may include firewall and antivirus configurations, BIOS/UEFI settings, network adapter drivers, operating system power management settings, and router configuration. Because these requirements can vary by system, it is recommended to consult your system or motherboard manufacturer for guidance specific to your hardware.

Below are some Intel wireless adapters that support Wireless Wake-on-LAN (WoWLAN) when used with compatible hardware and drivers:

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8265

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9260

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201

Please note that WoWLAN functionality also depends on platform support, BIOS capabilities, and proper driver configuration.

If you would like to configure this feature, you can follow the instructions provided in the attached article for the required setup steps and considerations.

Enabling Wake-on-LAN

Best regards,
Goutham,
Intel Customer Support Technician

Hello WOWLAN14,

Thank you for sharing the details of your setup. Based on the information provided, it looks like Wake-on-Wireless (WoWLAN) behavior can depend on several factors:

BIOS Settings: You’ve disabled ErP and enabled Wake on PCIe, which is correct. Please also confirm if options like “Power On by PCI/PCIe Device” or “Wake on LAN from S5” are available and enabled, as some motherboards distinguish between sleep (S3) and shutdown (S5) states.

Wi-Fi Adapter Limitations: Many Wi-Fi adapters support waking the PC from sleep but may not support wake from full shutdown (S5). Checking the adapter’s specification or driver release notes can clarify supported power states.

Windows Settings:

Device Manager → Network Adapter → Power Management: “Allow this device to wake the computer” should be enabled.

Advanced settings: Ensure “Wake on Magic Packet” is enabled; “Wake on Pattern Match” can be toggled to test behavior.

Fast Startup in Windows may interfere with wake from shutdown, so temporarily disabling it can help isolate the issue.

Testing & Tools: Using a utility such as WakeMeOnLan can help verify whether magic packets are received by the system.

Additional Considerations: Updating the motherboard BIOS and Wi-Fi adapter drivers to the latest versions can improve wake functionality. For consistent wake-from-shutdown behavior, a wired Ethernet connection is typically more reliable than Wi-Fi.

Based on your current setup, it’s possible that wake from sleep will work but wake from shutdown may be limited by hardware or adapter capabilities.

Best regards,

Goutham,

Intel Customer Support Technician
