Hi Intel,

We have around 280 Units HP EliteBook 830 G9 which is Wi-Fi 6E Supported. We have also 6GHz supported Router / AP and the Router is broadcasting 6GHz. We can connect the 6GHz SSID with Apple Device. But We couldn't connect with HP EliteBook 830 G9 Device which have Intel AX211NGW.

We have taken few steps for client Device to resolve the case-

>Update BIOS & Driver (24.30.1) with Operating system Windows 11 25H2 (Build ID: 26200:8117).

>Change some settings form WLAN properties (Like- Set Preferred Band 6GHz, set 802.11ax)

For Router-

>Router is already broadcasting 6GHz, and we can conenct with other device.
>6 GHz channel width configured (20/40/80/160 MHz)
> 6GHz channel set such as 37 and 53.
>Change authentication to WPA3-Personal (or WPA3-Enterprise)
>Enable PMF (Protected Management Frames) Required

In this scenerio we need your help to resolve the case. Need proper clarification why this issue is happeing in HP EliteBook 830 G9 Device which have Intel AX211NGW card.

Thanks

Hello Shamol ,

Thank you for posting in intel community.

Based on the information provided, the access point and 6GHz network appear to be working as expected, since other devices (such as Apple devices) are able to connect successfully.

This indicates the issue is likely specific to the HP EliteBook 830 G9 platform rather than the router configuration.

A few important points to consider for Intel AX211 (Wi-Fi 6E):

Key Points

Regulatory domain enforcement:

The Intel AX211 adapter strictly follows regional regulatory rules defined by the system OEM (HP) and the operating system. If the configured region does not allow 6GHz operation, the device will not connect to 6GHz networks.

OEM dependency (HP platform):

6GHz support is not controlled by the wireless card alone. It also depends on BIOS/firmware implementation by HP. Even with a supported adapter, 6GHz may be restricted or disabled at the platform level.

Driver and OS interaction:

While the installed driver version supports Wi-Fi 6E, actual functionality depends on compatibility between the driver, OS build, and OEM configuration.

Country code alignment:

Any mismatch between the system’s regulatory domain and the access point’s country setting can prevent 6GHz connectivity.

Suggested Checks

Verify that the system region (Windows settings) matches a country where 6GHz is permitted.

Ensure the access point country code aligns with the client device region.

Confirm with HP that the BIOS/firmware fully enables 6GHz operation on this model.

Test with the latest Intel generic wireless driver (for comparison).

If possible, try connecting the same device in another known working 6GHz environment.

Articles:-https://www.wi-fi.org/regulations-enabling-6-ghz-wi-fi

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000098096/wireless.html

Summary

Since the 6GHz network is accessible from other devices, this behavior is most likely related to regulatory or OEM-level limitations on the HP EliteBook 830 G9 rather than an issue with the Intel AX211 adapter itself.

Regard's

Goutham

Intel customer Support Technician

Hello Shamol,

Thank you for your patience.

When comparing Intel’s generic capabilities with OEM (HP) implementation, it is important to note that 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E) support is controlled at the platform level by the system manufacturer.

Based on HP’s official driver and BIOS documentation for the HP EliteBook 830 G9, 6 GHz support has been enabled progressively through BIOS updates and is dependent on region-specific regulatory approvals.

For example:

BIOS version 01.10.00 Rev.A extends 6 GHz support to Thailand and Mexico.

BIOS version 01.11.05 Rev.A further extends support to Singapore.

This indicates that 6 GHz functionality on this system is selectively enabled by HP depending on the country/region and BIOS version, even when using supported adapters such as Intel AX211.

Given this OEM-level control, we recommend confirming the following directly with HP:

Whether 6 GHz is enabled for your specific region and system configuration

Whether your current BIOS version includes support for your country

If any additional BIOS or firmware updates are required to enable this feature

You can refer to the HP documentation here:

HP EliteBook 830 13.3 inch G9 Notebook PC Software and Driver Details

How to Enable 6 GHz Band Using Intel® Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 Products

Summary:

While the Intel AX211 adapter supports Wi-Fi 6E, actual 6 GHz availability on this platform depends on HP’s BIOS implementation and regional enablement. Therefore, this behavior is expected if the feature has not been enabled by the OEM for your location.

Best reagrds,

Goutham

Intel customer support technician

Hi Goutham,

We already raised the call to the OEM. We shared the scenario to the OEM on last day regarding the scenerio, extending 6GHz support by updating BIOS. They acknowledged us to work with their team to identify the issue. We also check the AP ( Cisco WLC 9800 + Catalyst 9166I), which is 6Ghz supported with aproval the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

In the meantime, could you please share if it has any regulatory domain issues with Intel AX211 module devices in BD? Is it possible to have a regulatory Domain issue with the WLAN card?

Thanks
Shamol
