Hello K1l3rL0oP,

When you plan to replace the Wireless adapter in your computer, the PC manufacturer (in this case Asus) is the best source to determine a suitable replacement.

If Asus recommended to use the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300, you should be able to use it in your system. It would be good to contact Asus support or an Authorized service provider in order to install the adapter.

If your PC has the Intel® Wireless-N 7260 PCIe Half MiniCard version, it would use the same form factor and similar capabilities as the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300. However, the N 6300 is a dual band adapter (2.4 GHz - 5 GHZ), and the N 7260 may be single band (2.4 GHz) only. This would be an advantage for the N 6300.

For more information and comparison, you can check the specifications of the two adapters in the following links:

http://ark.intel.com/products/59474/Intel-Centrino-Ultimate-N-6300-Dual-Band Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300, Dual Band

http://ark.intel.com/products/75174/Intel-Wireless-N-7260 Intel® Wireless-N 7260

Greetings to all,

I have finally decided to remove that pathetic excuse for a WLAN and buy something that actually works.

Few months ago I purchased a brand new laptop, dropped down two thousand $ just to start banging my head at the wall because of network issues and after countless warranty "repairs" and browsing every single forum known to man about this problem, did everything I could and still my problem is here and I do not need a solution Intel - thank you but I need a new card to replace the N-7260 with.

What Asus gave me as replacement option is

INTEL CENTRINO ULTIMATE-N 6300

Although they look the same I don't know if it will actually work for me. I need something that will connect me to the internet and stay connected .... period.

------------------

System Information

------------------

Time of this report: 3/4/2015, 13:48:19

       Machine name: G550JK

   Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600) (9600.winblue_s14.140201-1007)

           Language: English (Regional Setting: English)

System Manufacturer: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.

       System Model: G550JK

               BIOS: BIOS Date: 03/20/14 15:50:15 Ver: 04.06.05

          Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz

             Memory: 12288MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 12172MB RAM

Page File: 2777MB used, 24113MB available

        Windows Dir: C:\Windows

    DirectX Version: DirectX 11

DX Setup Parameters: Not found

User DPI Setting: Using System DPI

System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)

    DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled

     DxDiag Version: 6.03.9600.16384 64bit Unicode

Display Devices

---------------

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M

       Manufacturer: NVIDIA

          Chip type: GeForce GTX 850M

           DAC type: Integrated RAMDAC

        Device Type: Render-Only Device

         Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1391&SUBSYS_11CD1043&REV_A2

     Display Memory: 10079 MB

   Dedicated Memory: 3994 MB

      Shared Memory: 6085 MB

       Current Mode: n/a

        Driver Name: nvd3dumx,nvwgf2umx,nvwgf2umx,nvd3dum,nvwgf2um,nvwgf2um

Driver File Version: 9.18.0013.4465 (English)

     Driver Version: 9.18.13.4465

        DDI Version: 11

     Feature Levels: 11.0,10.1,10.0,9.3,9.2,9.1

       Driver Model: WDDM 1.3

Graphics Preemption: DMA

Compute Preemption: DMA

Miracast: Not Supported by Graphics driver

Hybrid Graphics GPU: Discrete

     Power P-states: Not Supported

  Driver Attributes: Final Retail

   Driver Date/Size: 11/4/2014 01:04:30, 19966344 bytes

        WHQL Logo'd: Yes

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]

(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation.

Thank you for the answer, the N7260 that I currently have is a Dual Band as well but the thing is that the problem is with the model (maybe a bug , maybe software i dunno).

However thank you very much for the response Jon!
