Intel AC 8260 Bluetooth not finding devices

I recently bought the 8260 card and mounted it to my computers M.2 slot. I only installed one antenna, in antenna slot 1.

I am using the EVGA Z170 Stinger motherboard and Windows 10.

Wifi is working perfect, no issues at all. I have installed the latest drivers, 19.30.0, from this site: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/86068/Intel-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC-8260 Downloads for Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260

Bluetooth is showing up in windows, can't find any error messages in device manager. It lets me search for devices, but it never finds any.

I have tried with my Bose QC30, BOSE SL3 and setting up my Mac for bluetooth file transfer. My Mac and iPhone find these devices with no issues.

I have looked at all the posts on this site relating to bluetooth issues and all solutions seem to be updating drivers.

I followed this post: as good as possible on Windows 10, but I'm still having the same issues.

Does it matter if I plugg the antenna in 1 or 2 (it is very difficult to access so don't want to try if it makes no difference)?

That being said, it seems like this wireless adapter is functioning as expected. The main issue that I see here is the fact that you're using only one antenna (this is a 2x2 adapter).

- Antenna 1 handles Wi-Fi only.

- Antenna 2 handles both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Based on this, you could switch your plug to antenna number 2, but it's very likely that this may have a negative effect on your wireless connectivity/performance.

Changed the antenna to number 2 and it's working now. Why do you recommend the 7260 for desktop systems?

Hello Ridago,

The Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 for Desktop comes integrated with a PCIe adapter, as well as external antennas. There are also some third-party versions of the Wireless-AC 8260 that are also intended for desktop systems.

All others are originally meant to be integrated by OEMs into their products, or to be purchased as pre-approved spare parts (for the Intel® NUCs, for example).

In short, it's not so much that we recommend the 7260 specifically, but rather that we recommend using a desktop version of these adapters. And the 7260 is the only one marketed by us for this purpose.

At the end of the day, if it works it works. And we're glad to hear that switching antennas resolved your issue.
