I have a new HP dm4 and I set up my widi with a netgear box for my hdmi tv and it worked perfect until this morning and now it won't let me click the green enable button to start the wifi utulity. My computer had an update this morning and since then it's not worked. I have located the adapters and they are all enabled but the utility won't let me click the enable button. I downloaded the latest driver and still no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with the Pavilion dm4. Discovered the problem 4/15. Have spent hours on the phone with HP. Their solution is to perform a complete system restore. I said no to that idea since the updates will eventually cause the same problem. We were thinking 4/18, yesterday, that the actual hardware card is defective and HP is sending a box for me to return the dm4 for repair. Since there are now at least 2 others with the same problem, it is clearly a software problem.

Intel, please help.

Thanks, Reid.

HP found the solution. I'm pretty vague about the procedure, but I think they uninstalled the intel centrino wimax adapters and the software, and the network adapters and then installed from Intel's site the ICS_s64 program. I am able to enable my wifi technology, but I cannot find the wireless software to scan for adapters. RW. ...also I have not been able to get my netgear pvt1000 to "popup" the 8 digit pin. I don't remember how to do that.

Here is the solution, that worked on my machine, as best I can recall.

Download the ICS_S64 exe from Intel's website. It is simple to find. Search it at downloadcenter.intel.com. Save the exe to your desktop.

then go here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Wireless+Technologies&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Wireless+Display http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Wireless+Technologies&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Wireless+Display

this is the Intel Wireless Display Software for Windows 7. Pick the appropriate 32 bit or 64 bit version. Save the exe to your desktop

Go to download manager and uninstall/remove/delete

1) network adapters

2) intel centrino wimax adapters

be sure to check the box to delete/remove software. this is important. if you do not remove the software it will not work

I do not remember if a program was uninstalled from the add/remove programs in control panel. If it is it would be the intel wireless display software. This is the point I am vague about.

Back to device manager...Caution: when you do this, you have killed wireless internet access until you finish the procedure. Setup a restore point and have another way to get online.

reboot.

execute the ics_s64 from the desktop

reboot

your wireless internet should be back

execute the intel wireless display that you saved to your desktop

reboot

you should be back in business.

Then on the dropdown click on Intel (R) My WiFi Technology. to the left of it you can click on a dropdown menu and then click on this feature will not be avavilable. Once you click next let it finish. Then go back and redo everythign and when you get to the dropdown menu click on This feature and all subfeatures will be installed on local hard drive. Then click next and once that completed you should be back in business.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6 and we have the push tv adapter. It was working....then all of a sudden it stopped connecting. 2 weeks ago my son fixed the problem, apparently it had to do with the computer updates. NOW....it did it again. Please tell me how to get it working again. This is a pain. I'm very disappointed with HP right now.

Intel Centrino Wi Max adapters (Not relevant for certain Models)

In device Manager under Network Adapters uninstall your Intel Wifi Adapter but be sure to check the box to delete/remove software when it gives the confirmation warning for uninstalling. This is important, if you do not remove the software by checking the box it will not work.

Go to control Panel and then Program and Features and check if Intel Wifi Software is still there or not. You might see the Intel WiFi Adapter again and in such case delete / uninstall once more. Caution:.... when you do this, you have killed wireless internet access until you finish the procedure.

/message/126825# 126825 ISSUE RESOLVED: "Re: Can not enable My WiFi Technology utility"

Reid has provided the Soluiton and it worked for me as well but there are certain missing links and I would like to elaborate and fix the sequence for certain rituals to help non-techies like me. Thanks Reid.

Download the ICS_S64.exe from Intel's website. It is simple to find. Search google for Intel ICS_S64.exe download. You will see a link for downloadcenter.intel.com. Save the ICS_S64.exe to your desktop.

Then go here: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Wireless+Technologies&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Wireless+Display http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Wireless+Networking&ProductLine=Wireless+Technologies&ProductProduct=Intel%c2%ae+Wireless+Display

This is the Intel Wireless Display Software for Windows 7. Pick the appropriate 32 bit or 64 bit version. Save the exe to your desktop.

Go to device manager and uninstall/remove/delete

1). Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN under Network Adapters. (Your Wifi card could be different number)

If you see this software here, perform uninstall here as well.

Now in Control Panel and then Program and Features select Intel WiDi software and uninstall.

Reboot.

Back to device manager and check the status of Intel WiFi Adapter under Network Adapters. You might see the Intel WiFi Adapter again and in such case delete / uninstall once more. Caution:.... when you do this, you have killed wireless internet access until you finish the procedure. Setup a restore point and have another way to get online IF REQUIRED ONLY.

Execute the ics_S64 from the desktop. Choose custom installation when it gives option to choose between Custom and Typical Installation. Ensure you install all features including Intel My WiFi technology.

Reboot and your wireless internet should be back. Execute the Intel wireless display software that you saved to your desktop.

Reboot for the last time and you should be back in business.
