Hello,
I've used vtune_amplifier_xe_2016_setup.exe on Windows 7, but today when I tried the same on Windows 8.1, right after extraction, the installer seemed to abort. Not sure if some setting or feature is missing on Windows 8.1. Log file found in AppData\local\temp folder is included below. Any help/BKMs are appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Manish,
Can you please verify that:
1. You run the installation with administrative rights
2. This location is writable C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Download\
3. The download location has no older "vtune_amplifier_xe_2016_setup" folder from previous VTune instllations, ex. from 2016 Beta, then remove them.
Please re-run the installation and let know if it helps?
Regards, Katya

Tried steps per your suggestion... extraction did go through this time. However, installation does not seem to have completed. Log snippet below.

Hi Manish,
Good that you moved forward. The extract log is now fine.
Can you please specify at what stage installation now stops?
To allow us explore further, can you please find more logs on your system and attach here?
%TEMP%\pset_tmp_amplifier_xe_2016_%USERNAME%\<time of your install>\pid_*.log

Just for the record.
We worked offline with Manish, and were able to identify solution.
The particular Windows 8.1 system was not connected to Internet and did not have updated Root Certificates, the list root certificates that is accepted by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Root Certificate Program. As result Windows was not able to verify VTune product Digital Signature and installation fails.
We installed:
1. AddTrust External CA Root -- Root certificates for EV/EV SGC SSL certificates:
https://support.comodo.com/index.php?/Default/Knowledgebase/Article/View/917/91/
2. And the below update from windowsupdate center:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/v3/static/trustedr/en/rootsupd.exe
More info on how it works: http://fixmyitsystem.com/2011/02/machines-unable-to-automatically-update.html
After that installation passed successfully.
From VTune install side will work on a better diagnostic for the digital certificate validity check.

The VTune xe2016 update 1 installation proceeds without difficulty on the installation which has remnants of a broken uninstall of previous versions.
