Upgrading from VTune 8.0 to VTune 9.0 blitzed my User PATH environment variable

The subject line pretty much says it all.

After I completed the upgrade process from VTune 8->9 (uninstall 8, install 9), my User PATH environment variable (about 10 entries)had been replaced by a single entry pointing to VTune. Since I didn't have a recent copy of my user PATH, I had to reconstruct it bit by bit. Yuck.

Note to Intel: Fix your installer to preserve the User PATH.

Note to everybody else: Make a backup of your User (and System) PATH before upgrading.

Terry

ps: other than that, VTune 9.0 seems to work fine for me (WinXP Pro and VS8/2005), but I don't push it very hard.

Thanks for the heads up. Upgrading to a v9 patch did the same thing, so that backup came in handy.

Hi

could you specify the exact VTune 9.0 package you installed?
It can be found in the support.txt file in the root of unpacked install media or in the installed VTune folder.

Besides, I'd appreciate if you quote the exact PATH value that was corrupted by VTune 9.0 install as well as you OS/SP version.

/Andy.
