Toolkits for implementing AI models on Intel FPGA SOC

Hi everyone, I'm planning to implement a CNN model on Intel SoC FPGAs and I have some questions below:

1. Which toolkits are required for implementing AI models on Soc FPGA? I know about OpenVINO and FPGA AI Suite but do I have to use both?

2. Which Soc FPGA development Kits are supported now?

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Luu

Hi,

before proceeding further, may I clarify what FPGA hardware are you using? (eg: Intel Arria 10 FPGA )

If you are using Intel Arria 10 FPGA, please note that it is recommended to use OpenVINO version 2020.1 since this is the last OV version that supports this hardware. You may refer to this release note.

To get started, you may refer to these documents:

  1. Intel® Vision Accelerator Design with an Intel® Arria® 10 FPGA
  2. Configuration Guide for the Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ toolkit 2019R1 and the Intel® Vision Accelerator Design with an Intel® Arria® 10 FPGA (IEI’s Mustang-F100-A10) on Linux*

Hi Iffa,

Actually, I'm trying to choose the right FPGA KIT for my project. I want to deploy my AI application totally on my device so I focus on the SoC FPGA family. Besides the Intel Arria 10 FPGA, Could you tell me more about other SoC FPGA KITs for implementing AI at the edge?

Devices supported to use Intel FPGA AI Suite are:

  • Intel Agilex® 7 FPGA
  • Intel® Cyclone® 10 GX FPGA
  • Intel® Arria® 10 FPGA

You may refer here for further info.

You could choose any of them and here is the guide to get started.

Hi Iffa,

I have some questions below:

1. I see that Intel AI FPGA Suite requires a license for production. Is this a perpetual or annual license and how can I get it?

2. You said that the latest OpenVINO version no longer supports the Arria 10 FPGA. So how about other SoC FPGA families such as Agilex 7?

3. I See an example of SoC-based Design Example on Arria® 10 SX SoC FPGA Development Kit. Is there any FPGA SoC-based example of other families such as Agilex 7?

Regards,

DoubleFish

  1. For this inquiries, it is best to contact the FPGA team, which you may proceed here
  2. Looking at the documentation that I shared before, you should be able to use it since it is enabled by Intel FPGA AI suite.
