The 21st Century Cures Act will dramatically advance precision medicine, accelerating medical discovery and improving outcomes for patients across the United States. The Act brings together the computational expertise of the Department of Energy and clinical expertise of the National Institutes of Health to enhance genomic analytics and opens the door for technologies such as whole genomic sequencing (WGS), which can speed diagnoses for patients. Leveraging the power of data is crucial to the future of healthcare and we are pleased to see the bill’s emphasis on “real world testing” for Health Information Technology. When hospitals, clinics, researchers and labs can exchange genomic, wearable and clinical data, the benefits for medical discovery will be enormous. We at Intel are pleased to see the 21st Century Cures Act come to a vote before the U.S. House of Representatives and we strongly support passage; this is an exciting opportunity for the U.S. to lead the way in medical innovation.
