Inside of Intel we have been sharing countless stories of our colleagues making a difference during the coronavirus pandemic. Employees donating their time, energy, and resources to meet the needs of their communities right now. We couldn't keep the acts of kindness, empathy, and generosity to ourselves. They deserve to be celebrated. So today we're sharing the first installment of Intel Heros, a series dedicated to sharing some of the remarkable ways employees, our Intel heroes, are helping.
Intel Fort Collins, Colorado
Patrick Mahoney’s family has sewn and delivered over 660 (and counting!) free masks for senior citizens. The team effort including Patrick's daughters cutting patterns and his wife sewing while he delivers the finished masks via bike for those unable to pick-up. For those who want to pay, the family is requesting individuals instead send donations to the Larimer County Food Bank.
Intel Ireland
Intel Ireland works closely with the local Gardaí in Leixlip. The Gardaí needed podium-style public information stands that could be used when interacting with the general public in locations such as local grocery stores. The Site Project Group worked with Duffy Contractors to build the base of the stand and Jones Engineering to add the protective screens.
Intel Malaysia
SB Ngoo is teaching online tools for virtual classroom learning to teachers in his district during Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO). When healthcare providers asked community members to create homemade masks to support their urgent needs during the COVID-19 outbreak, Intel Oregon Employee Beilei Zhu immediately kicked off a virtual mask sewing program, The Westcoast Handmade Mask Alliance, to synergize the local Chinese American Community to the call. Ellen Tan, another Intel employee, volunteered to work as the project’s technical leader to research and design the best model for the virtual sewing team. The team has sewed and delivered over 1000 masks to hospitals in Portland and Vancouver.
Intel Hillsboro, Oregon
