Hi. We are integrating a 82599 chipset onto a board that we are building. We want to be able to set one interface to use 10GBASE-KR and the other interface to use 1000BASE-KX. This is a non-standard interface. From what we can tell looking at documentation, we will need to program the EEPROM onboard in order to achieve this configuration. Can you point me in the right direction of how to configure the chip to support backplane/sfp modes? Thanks in advance.

Hello, @cathyz64:
Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.
You should refer to the information stated in sections 3.7.1.3, 3.7.2.1, and 3.7.4.2, on pages 113, 120, and 125 of the Intel® 82599 10 GbE Controller Datasheet document # 331520 that may help you. You can find it when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) privileged account on the following website:

Right, we are already aware of the datasheet and those sections you mentioned. What we are really most interested in is the way to program the EEPROM, if there is an associated tool or firmware image to do so? As I stated, we are planning to use this chipset on a new product we are making and would like to pre-load the EEPROM with the settings we intend to use. Some direction in how this is done would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Hello, @cathyz64:
Thanks for your reply.
You need to use an image that better fits your needs. You may find it in the Intel® 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller EEPROM Images document # 425136 when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) privileged account on the following website:

I attempted to get a RDC sign in and was not successful. Is there another way I can reach this information? Or someone I could reach out to concerning a RDC account?
