Hi:

I'm using I210-AT chip, and I need to flash the image into the externel flash. But I cannot find the 513655 images mentioned in the "ethernet-controller-i210-i211-faq", can you send me the download link or the images please? Many thanks!

Hi Carlos

I've used the #513655 document for copper connection (TBase1000 via magnetics and CAT5). Is there a different configuration file for backplane mode connection (802.3ap / 1000 Base KX) ?

Additionally, we have had to reduce the speed of the copper designs to 100 Base T.  Could you confirm that the MDI_MINUS and MDI_PLUS ports are voltage driven, require no pull-ups and that the centre tap of the magnetics should not be connected to a bias voltage? (In order to get the design to work, we have had to connect MDI ports to +3V3 via 50 ohm resistors and connect the magnetic centre tap to 3V3).

Carlos,

This webpage you linked to does not have any production images for the i226.

There is a guide for using the EEPROM access and a datasheet for the i226 but there are NO images!!!

I need an image to program in my i226-IT units! Where can I find these images???

For example the i210 images are here: http://www.intel.com/cd/edesign/library/asmo-na/eng/513655.htm

now where are the i226 images?!?

I just want to program my i226!!!! why is this so difficult???

Thank you,

Cameron Bolton

Hello @cae0n,

I'm truly sorry for the troubles.

You may check the document #686540 - Intel® Ethernet Controller I226 NVM

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/secure/content-details/686540/intel-ethernet-controller-i226-nvm.html

Please, let me know if this is enough or if you need anything else.

Best regards,

Hi Diego,

That is very helpful; thank you very much.

Unfortunately it doesn't resolve my problem.

My i226 has the following PCI IDs:

Vendor: 0x8086

Device: 0x125F

The binaries you supplied seem to only be valid for 0x125B, 0x125C, 0x125D device IDs. Do you have a version of the image for the 0x125F device?

Sincerely,

Cameron Bolton

Hello @cae0n,

You are very welcome and yes, 0x125F is because is blank, according to the datasheet, document #596659, in page 28:

Diego_INTEL_0-1694476604432.png

Yours is I226-IT correct? You may use the image 0x125D.

Also, document #574707 - Intel® Client Ethernet Message of the Week (Intel I219, I225, I226), has further information regarding the documentation for these controllers, it may be helpful for you to have and the datasheet.

Best regards,

Hi Diego,

Again, thank you for the tremendously helpful info.

Can you link to this "#574707 - Intel® Client Ethernet Message of the Week (Intel I219, I225, I226)" document? I cannot seem to find it anywhere.

Also, yes our i226 is specifically an i226-IT.

I'm able to write the binary file you provided (specifically FXVL_125D_IT_2MB_2.22.bin) to the "Shared Flash" and I get the "Shared Flash Image updated sucessfully" message.

I then completely power cycle the board. However, my i226 is still not operating, in fact nothing has changed.

It still shows up in the eeupdate utility as an empty flash and device manager still shows it as not having a driver.

I uploaded two screenshots to this post. One shows me programming the binary file into the shared flash, and the other shows the i226 device still not loaded in device manager after power cycling the system.

Can you tell me if I'm doing anything wrong in my programming procedure based on my screenshot? I am following all the steps I can find online.

Do you have any additional documentation on the process for updating the flash on the i226?

Thank you,

Cameron Bolton

Hello @cae0n,

Oh, sometimes the tool doesn't do anything, and must try again. Can you try with the following commands, I hope this helps.

$ cp ../../FXVL_125D_IT_2MB_2.22.bin firmware
$  ./eeupdate64e /nic=1 /data firmware

Edit: I forgot to add you the link.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/secure/content-details/574707/intel-client-ethernet-message-of-the-week.html?DocID=574707

About the EEupdate, only the txt file that comes in the document #615722
