Hello,
We are working with a PCB that includes an I210 (2213AEPWGI210AS I) networking chip, The I210 performs a thermal shutdown after passing around 50 degrees celcius ambient (which is ofcourse within the spec of the chip). We tried using your tooling (lanconf64e) to increase this thermal threshold without any luck, which addresses can we change in the flash/hex file to increase this threshold and what value do we need?
Kind regards

Hello, @matthiast45t458743h:
Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.
We suggest verifying that the affected design fulfills the requirements stated in sections 13.8 and 13.9, on page 848 of the document stated on the following website:

Hello Carlos,
The problem does not seem to be a hardware/layout problem.
It seems the i210, thermal shutdown limit is set on a lower temperature than that is desired.
we already checked that the chip is configured to be a industrial chip (word 0x03, bit 12 is set to 1), this should enforce the thermal limits between -40 and +85 degrees celcius. Are we missing any other words/registers that influence the thermal shutdown temperature?
kind regards

Hello Carlos,
We acquired the Intel® Ethernet Controller I210 through Mouser.
I think with the chip (2213AEPWGI210AS I) our desired temperature range should be possible right?
Thank you for your reply.
Kind regards

Hello, @matthiast45t458743h:
Thanks for your reply.
In case you refer to the Intel® Ethernet Controller I210-AS with the part number stated in round brackets, the operating temperature range can be found on the following website:
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/71839/intel-ethernet-controller-i210as.html

Hello Carlos,
Yes we found this information.
Only we do not even reach this thermal threshold (operation is within a normal case, ambient around 35 degrees celcius).
So it seems there is a different problem and we think it is firmware related.
Can the firmware influence the thermal settings of the I210?
Kind regards

Have you ever found the root-cause of this issue? What was the behavior of the IC, as mention it was going into "thermal shutdown" ?
