I am trying to program a blank Intel I210-IT using the Intel EEPROM Access tool with the provided NVM image: I210_Invm_Copper_NoAPM_v0.6.HEX The external SPI flash connected to the I210 is SST26VF016BEUI-104I/SN (FlashId: bf26) This device is the newer-generation Microchip SST26 series, and it includes a factory-programmed globally unique EUI-48 identifier stored in the SFDP vendor parameter table.
The i210-it was initially programmed normally without EEPROM and it flashed normally without issues and MAC adress was programmed manually.
The issue comes when running EEPROMAccessTool with the flash connected, the tool detects the EEPROM correctly but fails during programming: Using no FW mode size is 80000 Detected FlashId: bf26 Using SST method... Erasing Full NVM... Default writing method failed, trying bit banging... error: No writing method worked.
Does EEPROMAccessTool officially support programming the SST26VF016BEUI series flash devices and is there known possibility to read unique MAC adress from such application? Or perhaps am I be using wrong firmware for this application?

Hi @MartKuld
Thank you for contacting the Intel Embedded Community.
As specified in the i210 FAQ document RDC # 335346, section 2.15 What tools do I use to program the I210/I211?
The tools for supporting these products are available on IBL in document number 348742. EEUPDATE is
used to program the flash memory or iNVM in production environments. LANConf is designed for test
and development purposes, but can also be used to program the flash memory or iNVM. You can get EEUpdate from Intel RDC kit 348742 (Quartzville)
https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/348742?wapkw=eeupdate
In order to access RDC documents, please go through the following instructions described on the below article.
Best regards,
Jaime L.
