Regulator for i210-IT

Hi,

I'm using the I210-IT ethernet controller in my design.

I want to use the external supply for 1.5V and 0.9V.

(I'm planning to use switching regulator TPS62160QDSGRQ1 for 1.5V generation and TLV71209DBVT for the 0.9V generation.)

I wanted to know, is there any particular recommendations for the regulators ?

Is it good to use LDOs or switching regulators ?

How reliable is to use the internal regulators of I210-IT ?

Please help me with this.

Thanks & Regards,

Nanjunda M

Hi Carlos A,

I have been through those pages.

My question is

" is there any particular recommendations for the regulators ?

Is it good to use LDOs or switching regulators ? "

I don't see anything mentioned related to this in the datasheet.

Can you please help with this ?

Thanks & Regards,

Hello Nanju,

Thanks for your reply.

It is strongly recommended to use the internal regulator. The recommendations for external regulators are unavailable because that is not the preferred configuration.

The internal regulation is highly reliable, and there are hundreds of designs using it. In fact, the team in charge of this product don't recall ever seeing a design using an external regulator.

We hope that information may answer your questions.

Best Regards,
