SPI BIOS Flash for Elkhart Lake

Hi

We have successfully used the Winbond spi flash W25R256JWPQ and W25Q256JVEIM preconfigured to 4-byte address mode for BIOS storage with Elkhart Lake. The CRB BOM lists the Winbond W25R256JVEIQ which is the same as the W25R256JWPQ without RPMC support.

Because of the current availibility shorts we are looking for other flash types.

We have testet ISSI IS25LP256D-JLLE and Spansion/Cypress S25FL256LAGNFV010, both preconfigured to 4-byte address mode. We are able to program and verify successfully both of them using the FPT tool or an external programmer, but the system does not boot with them.

What can be the reason for this?

What other flash types (non-Winbond) have successfully been tested with Elkhart Lake designs?

Thanks!

Hi Carlos

Thanks for your advice to open an IPS case. We will check with our supplier for this.
May be someone else in this forum has seen other 256Mbit flash types working with Elkhart Lake designs...

Best regards!

Hi Carlos

Thanks for the links to documents 601458 and 599710. We also checked the "Elkhartlake Client SPI Programming Guide" contained in the Intel_CSE_15.40.15.2416 tool package. However both flash devices ISSI IS25LP256D-JLLE and Spansion/Cypress S25FL256LAGNFV010 fulfill the requirements, but they do not boot. May be there are additional requirements for 4-byte address mode necessary for the 32Mbyte/256Mbit devices which are not yet documented?

So my question is: What other 256Mbit flash types (non-Winbond) have successfully been tested with Elkhart Lake designs?
