Storage Temperature for Atom E3845

The datasheet for the Atom E3800 product family has storage temperature for prior to attaching to a board and has a general guideline for post board-attach temperature range from -40C to +70C. Since the operational temperature is from -40C to + 110C (for the E3845), I was wondering if the processor could be stored in lower temperatures than -40C or if there was more information on storage temperature when attached to the SBC.

Hello, cxg:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

The information that may help you is stated in section 8.4.3; on pages 8-15, 8-16, and 8-17 of the Intel Packaging Databook specifically its https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/packaging-databooks/packaging-chapter-08-databook.pdf chapter 8 Moisture Sensitivity/Desiccant Packaging/Handling of PSMCs .

We hope that this information may help you.

Best regards,

That section seems to deal with packaging during shipping and with moisture. I was hoping for information of when the processor was already mounted on to a PCB and was being used on occasion. With an operational temperature between -40C to +110C, the device can probably tolerate more than the general guideline of a non-operating temperature limit of +70C (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/embedded/products/bay-trail/atom-e3800-family-datasheet.html 9.2.1 page 117 on the e3800 datasheet). I wanted to know if the non-operating temperature could also be lower temperatures than -40C, specifically if the device could tolerate -54C. Most of the documentation I could find seemed to indicate that -40C is the absolute minimum temperature allowable but I just wanted a more definite answer.

Thanks,

cxg
