ARM tools for 82574

Hi - We have a few questions regarding the 82574:

1. We would like to flash the 82574 on an ARM machine but cannot find any ARM binaries for tools such as LANConf. Where can we find tools for an ARM platform?

2. Where can we get access to the latest production flash image for the 82574?

3. We have an external flash connected to the 82574 and no eeprom. However, the LANConf tool is showing both eeprom and flash. Additionally, we are able to clear both, but after power cycling the eeprom is repopulated with the data from before we erased it. We are unable to find anything in the datasheet explaining this behavior; is it expected?

Thank you!

Hello, dileep:

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

The https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/377520 Intel 82574 Gigabit Ethernet Controller Production Sample Validation Kit [SVK] Silicon Sample Kit document # 377520 contains EEPROM/NVM Images. This document is accessible when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) privileged account. It can be requested by filling out the https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/forms/design/contact-support.html RDC Account Support form.

In order to help you with the rest of your consultation, we will contact you via email.

We hope that this information may help you.

Thank you for your help! We're having some problems with the eepromARMTool that you sent us. We have a Winbond W25X40BVNIG flash connected to the 82574. Running ./eepromARMtool -dump -NIC=1 gives us a file whose first line is:

8888 8888 8887 0C20 F746 2014 FFFF FFFF

We want to change the MAC address, so we edit the file that was dumped and change the first line to:

70B3 D501 C307 0C20 F746 2014 FFFF FFFF

Then we run ./eepromARMtool -write -NIC=1 -f=new_mac.otp. If we run the dump command again, the flash appears to have the correct contents. However, if we reboot or power cycle the machine and dump again, the output has returned to its original contents. This seems to imply that our changes were not actually flushed to the flash. Do you have any advice for how to fix this problem?

Thank you!

Hello, dileep:

Thanks for your reply.

In order to be on the same page, could you please tell us if this situation is related to an add-in card? Please give us all the information if it is an add-in card.

Could you please clarify us know if it is your own design? In case that it is your design, could you please let us know the sources that you use to develop it and if it has been reviewed by Intel?

Waiting for your reply to these questions.

Best regards,

We are using an add-in card: Intel EXPI9301CT Gigabit CT PCI-e Desktop Adapter.
