Hello,
My Lenovo X1 Carbon 4th Gen ThinkPad suggested me to update Intel Management Engine Firmware - 10 [64]. When I clicked OK, the recommended update did not went through. The following message popped up: "The FW Update Utility couldn't identify the system's SKU (Consumer or Corporate). Please check your ME FW Update Utility package and try again."
Please help.
I have Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.81 GHz.
My Intel Management Engine FW Version 11.0.0.1202.
Thank you,
aleko0725

Hello, @aleko0725:
Thanks for your reply.
We can provide generic drivers that may help you but they should be verified by the manufacturer of the third-party device.
You should use the tool mentioned on the following website:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
You must request the proper drivers from the manufacturer of the affected device.
Best regards,

Hello, @CarlosAM_INTEL,
Thank you for your response.
I have tried to get help from https://lenovomobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/contactus without any success.
There is a discussion of this problem at Lenovo forum https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T-series-Laptops/T460s-Intel-Management-Engine-Firmware-Update-Failed-SKU-Consumer-or-Corporate/m-p/5051537?page=2
One of participants, @keh2038, in the post of 2020-12-16, 7:50 AM proposed a workaround: running MEUpdate.cmd with PowerShell as admin. Many other participants successfully applied this method. However, another participant, @PostEverywhere, worried whether this method was safe for the further updates. Unfortunately, Lenovo did not weigh in on whether this workaround might cause any issues.
My laptop repeatedly shows recommendation from Lenovo to update Intel Management Engine Firmware – 10 [64] and always fails because “The FW Update Utility couldn’t identify the system’s SKU”. Therefore, the workaround looks like the only chance. However, I hesitate to apply it without an expert approval.
Thank you,
