Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market, today announced the Portwell ROBO-8112VG2AR, a full-size PICMG 1.3 form factor System Host Board (SHB), adopting the 4th generation Intel®Core™ processor family and the Intel® Xeon® processor E3-1200 v3 family. These latest Intel processors drive the Portwell ROBO-8112VG2AR to deliver higher performance and greater system reliability. Portwell's ROBO-8112VG2AR implements flexible PCI Express expansion which is ideal for a range of applications across several fields, such as Factory Automation, Image Processing, Medical and Military.

The Portwell ROBO-8112VG2AR is based on the latest Intel® C226 chipset and the 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor i7-2770TE and Intel® Xeon® processors E3-1275 v3, E3-1225 v3 and E3-1268L v3 in an LGA1150 socket supporting dual DDR3 long DIMM sockets at 1600MHz, up to 16GB. It supports the Intel® Xeon®processor E3-1275 v3, E3-1225 v3 and E3-1268L v3 with the ECC function, and Intel® Core™ i7-4770TE without the ECC function.

The PCI Express 3.0 from the Intel® Xeon® processors provides three flexible options, one PCIex16, two PCIe x8 or one PCIe x8 plus two PCIe x4 lanes for versatile applications. ROBO-8112VG2AR optimizes the engineering design of high speed signal, especially for PCI Express Gen 3, benefiting not only data transfer validation, but also eye-diagram verification to ensure signal quality.

ROBO-8112VG2AR with the 4th generation Intel® processor family features an integrated, enhanced graphics engine which provides significant 3D performance, up to DirectX® 11.1 and OpenCL™ 1.2 for a broad range of embedded applications. In addition, it supports triple display function via DVI-I (VGA and DVI-D) and HDMI, providing both clone mode and extended mode for different display requirements.

Furthermore, the Portwell ROBO-8112VG2AR integrates dual Intel® Gigabit Ethernet LAN chips (one of which can support Intel® Active Management Technology 9.0), and features three SATA ports at 6Gb/s. Legacy devices are also supported by ROBO-8112VG2AR through two serial ports (one RS232 and one RS232/422/485 selectable), one FDD port, PS/2 interface for keyboard/mouse and one parallel port for traditional factory automation applications. Six USB 3.0 ports (two on bracket and four on board with pin headers) provide upgraded bandwidth from 480Mbps to 5Gbps, greatly reducing the time for data transfer.

Portwell additionally implements two new backplanes, PBPE-11A3 and PBPE-12P4, for ROBO-8112VG2AR to fully support PCI Express 3.0 that provides great data transfer bandwidth for improving graphics performance. With the new generation, Portwell provides complete PICMG 1.3 SHB and backplane solutions for the increasing loading and complex computing requirement of industrial applications.
