Use of TP2_CORE_VCC_S3 and TP_CORE_V1P05_S4

Hello,

We have designed intel atom E3800 family based board and we are trying to debug it. We have got following observation on processor..... TP_CORE_V1P05_S4 pin has 1.05V but TP2_CORE_VCC_S3 pin has no voltage.

Is that means Vcore is not ok? .. On the PMIC, Vcore is 1.0V and seems Ok.

Thank You.

Hello, SABARIVASA@ECIL :

Thank you for contacting Intel Embedded Community.

We would like to address the following questions:

Could you please inform us how many units have been manufactured, how many are failing, and the failure rate?

Could you please let us know the sources that you have used to develop the affected design?

Could you please give us pictures of the affected processors? Specifically of the top side markings.

Finally, could you please confirm if the schematics and layout of the project associated with this situation have been reviewed by Intel?

Waiting for your answer to these questions.

Best regards,

Carlos_A.

Dear Carlos,

For now we have manufactured 2 units....and both r failing...

I have used intel isx reference kit and as reference.... As we have used Rohm PMIC ... We have taken reference of gojoyo also...

I have selected e3815 processor.... Picture will be shared soon...

LAYOUT and schemetics are not reviewed by intel.

Thank you.

Hello, SABARIVASA@ECIL:

Thanks for your update.

We suggest you verify that implementation fulfills with the requirements stated in chapter 4, on pages from 50 to 77 of the https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/512379 Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor E3800 Product Family Platform Design Guide (PDG) document # 512379; and in the http://www.rom.by/files/4_wire_pwm_spec_rev1.4_0.pdf VR12/IMVP7 Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Specification document # 397113.

The PDG is accessible when you are logged into your Resource & Design Center (RDC) Privileged Account.

We hope that this suggestion may help you.

There was an issue in SVID data line.... It seems Processor is booting now .... even though there is no voltage on TP2_CORE_VCC_S3 pin.

Thanks

Dear Carlos,

Just for information: What should be voltage on pin TP2_CORE_VCC_S3 ???

Next problem:

After booting, I am getting some sort of post codes on LPC port but not on PCU_UART. What could be the possible reason for this?

Thank You.

Hello, SABARIVASA@ECIL :

Thanks for your reply.

The information related to the voltage of the cited pin is related to CORE_VCC_S3 rail. It can be found in sections 9.3.1 and 9.3.2, on pages from 120 to 128 of the https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/atom-e3800-family-datasheet.pdf Intel(R) Atom(TM) Processor E3800 Product Family Datasheet document # 538136.

On the other hand, could you please give us more details (such the postcodes) of the LPC issue that your design is experiencing?

Waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Carlos_A.

I checked for LPC post codes on oscilloscope and got following post codes on port 80..

At start
