1GbE convert for XXV710-DA2T

Hi, I want to use XXV710-DA2T(or E810-XXVDA4T) with 1GbE ptp grandmaster.
What is the best way to connect SFP28 to 1000BASE-T for accurate time synchronization?

Regards.

Hello T_Yamaoka,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Kindly provide the following information for us to check your request.

1. Operating System you intend to use

2. Did you have the adapter already? Or you are still planning to use either XXV710-DA2T and E810-XXVDA4T?

3. Can you share more information or elaborate your intended configuration?

Looking forward to your reply.

We will follow up after 3 business days in case we don't hear from you.

Hello Crisselle

Thank you for your reply, I'll tell you about my environment.

1. Windows 10(11) is good. Windows Server is also acceptable. I know that Linux supports ptp, but our software only works on Windows.

2. I'm planning to buy either XXV710-DA2T or E810-XXVDA4T.

3. I want to synchronize within 1-10 microseconds in following two cases.

Case 1: Use the xxv710 as slave and synchronize to glandmaster and other devices.

(Case1)
GrandMaster<1000BASE-T> --(network hub?)-- <SFP28> XXV710-DA2T(slave)
                                                                                  +-- <1000BASE-T> other instrumentation(slave)

Case 2: Use the xxv710 as GM and connect other device as slaves. In this case RJ-45 SFP Transceiver may be used as media converter(like Intel E1GSFPT).

(Case2)
XXV710-DA2T(master) <SFP28> --(converter?) --- (PTP suport hub?)-- <1000BASE-T> measurement instruments(slave)

Thank you for contacting me about the situation.

If it is difficult to reply, could you please tell me if it is possible to synchronize the time with 1G Ethernet using XXV710-DA2T and Intel E1GSFPT?

Hello Yamaoka,

Apologies for the delay on our response,

Please see below information from our engineering team. Feel free to let us know if you have questions or clarifications.

Linux support for PPTP is standard, but Windows support is limited.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/docs/network-io/ethernet/network-adapters/ethernet-adapter-xxv710-da2t-brief.html?wapkw=da2t

The Feature Support Matrix shows what 1GBASE-T transceivers are supported.

https://cdrdv2.intel.com/v1/dl/getContent/332191

9. Support limited to: Finisar FCLF-8521-3, Kinnex A XSFP-T-RJ12-0101-DLL, Avago ABCU-5710RZ.

10.Finisar FCLF8521P2BTL is described to be functionally equivalent to Finisar FCLF-8521-3

But it might be better to connect at 10G or 25G to a switch depending on your network setup.

We can provide documentation for more information about PPTP with the XXV710-DA2T however, this requires NDA and Resource & Documentation Center (RDC) access. With this, we'd like to check if you have NDA signed with Intel or RDC access?

Here is the link for Resource & Documentation Center

Awaiting to hear from you.

We will follow up after 3 business days in case we don't receive a response.

Hi Crisselle

Thank you for the information on available transceivers. This is enough for me to consider purchasing one.
I am also in a position to suggest system to our users. It is not easy to recommend an NDA to a customer. So no need for confidential information at this time.

I appreciate your support!
