Hello, I am currently designing a system using the 82574IT chip, the data sheet says we can use either Flash or EEPROM. Does anyone know if there is a downside to using EEPROM. Can it still be programed via the PCIe memory map? As the map only mentions Flash.
Thanks

Hello, there is a command for u-boot that does what you need. Look for "e1000 u-boot":
e1000: Allow direct access to the E1000 SPI EEPROM device
As a part of the manufacturing process for some of our custom hardware,
we are programming the EEPROMs attached to our Intel 82571EB controllers
from software using U-Boot and Linux.
