This question is for the 82599EB "chip" which we designed into a product late last year. I'm now doing hardware bring-up on the first prototypes. The PCIe cards with the 82599EB show up in linux via lspci as 8086:10d8, which is "82599EB Unprogrammed". It seems hardware is fine, but I need the image for the EEPROM, and the utility for programming it. The was the closest category that the support ticket system offered, so please forward and keep me informed as necessary.
I found an item with a link, it seems that document number 425136 - http://www.intel.com/cd/edesign/library/asmo-na/eng/425136.htm Intel® 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller – EEPROM Images – Rev. 4.40, contains the EEPROM images, and I can't access that document. That document is in a password protected area, and the information provided is just a circular link that brings me right back to the same spot.
How do I get the firmware and programming tools for the 82599EB. Our card is really just the 82599EB with two SFP sockets, ideally connecting via XAUI. Tis should be the most basic configuration for the 82599EB.

Oh, so when you said "Our Embedded team will assist you", you didn't mean you were handing off the case, you meant that I need to start over somewhere else? I think I did that this morning anyway in a post called "Firmware for 82599EB". I also created an RDC standard account, but that password doesn't help me get document 425136 - http://www.intel.com/cd/edesign/library/asmo-na/eng/425136.htm Intel® 82599 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller – EEPROM Images – Rev. 4.40. That document link just goes to some Intel/Azure/Microsoft windows thing. Can you access that document to see if it exists, and tell me which or what service or account it requires? Maybe by then I'll hear back on the embedded post as well.

Hi LCotten,
Good day.
I hope you are doing well. This is regarding your request, I have escalated this case and after a discussion with the team, we found one solution that you can give it a try. You may visit link below:
The dev images are available on RDC for customers with privileged access (NDA required).

Also, as informed before you have posted in our Intel Embedded Community and have been attended by our colleague. Currently they are waiting for your response regarding this issue, you may want to check on the forum from your end.

Thanks. We do seem to have a contact working on it. BUT we're facing a bit of chicken and egg problem. On side tells up to apply for Developer Zone Premiere, and that we will then be sent a follow up email about the NDA process. But, the DZP sign up process sent back a notice that we have to have had the NDA first. To make matters more difficult, no one seems to know, or have a contact, to get an NDA in place.

Hi LCotten,
Thank you for your reply.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused regarding the process. As advised by our Intel Embedded team, to create 'Premier' account, an active Standard Corporate Non-Disclosure Agreement (CNDA) is required. You may refer to documentation below regarding the process of creating
You may revert back to our Intel Embedded Community team once you have completed the registration process.

No, it hasn't been resolved. They're responding, but apparently I've reached some "gatekeepers" rather than some customer service types. First it was "apply for DZP, then do an NDA" then it was "well you need the NDA to apply for DZP. OK, whom do I talk to about the NDA, "Oh, just apply for DZP". "Use our public forum", but the document I need is in the DZP area. "Well you don't have an account rep". Ok, so I accidentally started in the middle of the process, please point me to the correct entry point. I've been through this with Intel and several others over the years. They're been no help. I still just need the images in document 425136. Also it seems I need to use the 82599ES rather than the 82599EB. It's a pin compatible superset, and the EB part is discontinued and retired. The firmware should be the same. Also, I should probably migrate to a newer part eventually, but I just need to make the current one functional.
That's the saga.
