Hi all,
Hope you are all doing well. I am facing an issue with my new desktop.
The ethernet cable which is cat 5e and also a cat6 ethernet cable (newly purchased) only provide a speed of 10mb/s. While both cables provide a 1000mb/s speed on my Asus laptop.
The pc is directly hooked to the router with a cable, without any devices inbetween. My computer has a ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI (LGA1700) Asus motherboard, 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700K, 64G RAM from Corsair DDR5, and a Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB (SSD).
What did I try?
- Installing all new drivers
- Resetting network settings and installing drivers again
- Buying a new cable (both the old and new cable work with 1000 mb/s on my laptop)
- Altering the "properties" of the ethernet to force speed and duplex to 1000mb. However, the speed of the cable remains 10 mb/s.
- Running flush commands as an administrator with ipconfig and something that sounds like winskoch.
All of this alterations, without any luck. What should I do to get this to work?
With kind regards,
Rob

I too have the same problem, ethernet goes to 100Mbs only. If I disconnect the cable for 10 secs, it will connect at 1,000Mbs.
So were you able to resolve this? My laptop is much older than that of first poster.
Regards Dekkered
