Connect I226-IT MDI Interface w/ PHY MDI Interface?

In my current design, I have the GPY215's MDI interface connected straight into Intel's I226-IT 2.5GbE-PCIe controller. Would this implementation work or would I need to add a transformer (or two) between the two ICs?

You need to consider that this forum is related to an Intel® Ethernet Controller I226-IT but it is not related to an Intel Embedded processor or Intel Embedded Platform.
