hello,
i am new to the world of FPGA and i am currently working on DE2 board. i have been trying to create a simple program to communicate with my PC via Ethernet. although I've read a lot about the subject in many forums i can't find a simple example for sending and receiving data via Ethernet. can anyone pleas try and point me in the right direction? what should i read and study before jumping into this project? is it so much complicated then to implement RS232 communication? can a NOOB like me have a chance in doing so? any help will be much appreciated!! thanks to all. For A someone just starting out, I definitly suggest you learn to walk first with RS232 comms. Much easier to impliment, and the drivers are all there.
With Ethernet, unless you are already very familiar with sockets and how they work, the learning curve is much steeper. Since you are learning FPGA's as well, just start small, and start adding on over time. Pete- Mark as New

Hi
It's been a long time.
I'm working too with altera DE2 board and I'm just a beginner, I'm working on Ethernet projet , and I'm trying to implement a simple communication ethernet between my host computer and DE2 board.
(For example just sending "ping" commande)
Any ideas can help and i really appreciate it.
Thanks
