Hello sincer168,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Please allow us to check into this internally. But before that, can you clarify what is the specific type of PAM4 cable are you using? Is it the PAM4 optic?

Let us know if you have further questions or need clarifications. If we do not receive a response from you, we will make sure to reach out after 3 business days.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Hi Sir,

 I used AOC(SR2), AEC(100CR-2) and DAC(100 CR-2), all of them are support PAM4. All of them can not link up.

But I changed to DAC 100CR-4 and AEC (CR-4), it can link up. Thanks.

Hello sincer168,

Hope you are doing well.

For us to further check and validate your inquiry, we would like to ask for the front and rear photo of the adapter as well as the SSU of your system. We will send you a separate email in order for you to attach these requested information.

Let us know if you have questions or need clarifications. If we do not receive an update from you, we will reach out after 3 business days.

Hello sincer168,

How are you?

You can refer to the attached document (page 6) to check if your configuration is supported by the feature. Also, we would like to ask for the following brand/model or manufacturer link of the transceivers so we can know your complete specifications.

AOC(SR2), AEC(100CR-2) and DAC(100 CR-2). DAC 100CR-4 and AEC (CR-4)

We would also like to confirm as well. Are you using Ethernet Port Configuration Tool (EPCT) to configure PAM4? Did you encounter errors when using these transceivers: AOC(SR2), AEC(100CR-2) and DAC(100 CR-2)?

Thank you and have a nice day.

Hi Achilles,

Would you please provide the CMD set to PAM4?

 Ethernet Port Configuration Tool (EPCT)

One question, the E810 feature summary is for E810 Controller.

How about the E810 adapter? Is it the same?

Thanks.

Sam

Hello sincer168,

Thank you for the quick response.

Please allow us to check this with our engineers for the command on the tool. As for the E810 feature summary, yes, they are the same for both controllers and adapters.

Please allow us some time to check your inquiry internally. We will provide you with an update on this within 3 business days.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi Achilles,

Thanks for your reply.
Can you post the test screen, how to set up PAM4, and confirm the working mode of the network card is working properly in PAM4?

Thanks.

Hi Achilles,

I double checked the link status between E810 - 2CQDA2   and ixia/Keysight.

Example:

  E810 <------100G DAC -------> ixia/Keysight (100G NRZ)     :  Llink up

  E810 <------100G DAC -------> ixia/Keysight (100G PAM4)     :  Llink down

I suggest INTEL engineers can update FW to support 100G PAM4 (100-CR2).
At present, the function of this card (E810-2CQDA2) does not conform to the specifications advertised on the Internet. Thanks.

Hello sincer168,

Thank you for your update.

Please be informed that we are still checking your inquiry. However, we would also like to ask for the brand/model or link of the five transceivers. It is important for us so we can further validate and find their specifications.

AOC(SR2)

AEC(100CR-2)

DAC(100 CR-2)

DAC 100CR-4

AEC (CR-4)

Also, you mentioned that PAM4 worked worked on these transceivers (DAC 100CR-4 and AEC (CR-4). May we know what utility did you use?

Let us know if you have further questions. If we do not receive a response from you, we will make sure to reach out after 3 business days.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Hi Achilles,

 ixia = 100G XGS2

Switch = Arista 7060DX (400G/200G/100G/50G/40G/10G)

AEC = Credo 200G support 200G PAM4 / 100G PAM4

DAC = Molex 100G cable PN: 1002971101

Also, you mentioned that PAM4 worked worked on these transceivers (DAC 100CR-4 and AEC (CR-4). May we know what utility did you use?

Ans:  it is connecting to IXIA or switch like this.  That is why I expected E810 Adapter does not support PAM4.

  E810 (install to server)  <------100G DAC -------> ixia/Keysight (100G NRZ)     :  Link up

  E810 (install to server)  <------100G DAC -------> ixia/Keysight (100G PAM4)     :  Link down

  E810 (install to server)  <------100G DAC -------> Arista switch (100G NRZ)     :  Link up

  E810 (install to server)  <------100G DAC -------> Arista switch  (100G PAM4)     :  Link down

Also, you mentioned that PAM4 worked worked on these transceivers (DAC 100CR-4 and AEC (CR-4). May we know what utility did you use?

ANS:  it is running on IXIA or Switch. That is why I menation that E810 does not support PAM4.  Please check the below,

Test result:

  E810 (1u server) <------100G DAC -------> ixia/Keysight (100G NRZ)     :  Link up

Hello sincer168,

Greetings.

We are still coordinating your concern with our engineers. However, we hope you don't mind if you could provide us an output from the following commands below using Ethernet Port Configuration Tool (EPCT). Attached also below is the link on where you can download EPCT.

>epct -nic=1 -get

>epct -devices
