Does anyone have WakeOnLAN working on a X550-T1 or T2

Hi,

as in the discription asked. Does anyone have WakeOnLAN working on a X550-T1 or T2. I purchased an adapter because the technical documentation says this adapter is capable of WOL. But after a lot of tests on my X99A from ASUS WOL don´t work with the X550. But WOL work fine with the onboard I218V. Does anyone have a clue whats going wrong here?

Thank you

Hello OKuhl,

Thank you for posting in Intel Ethernet Communities.

Unfortunately, Wake-on-LAN isn't supported on Intel® Ethernet 10-gigabit adapters.

Please visit the link below for more information regarding Remote Wake up Basics for Intel® Ethernet Products

Hi Crisselle,

I can´t understand this. Everywhere I looked before I bought the adapter it says that it is capable of WOL.

First:

Datasheet page 38 with a "Y" at Wake-On-LAN, and pages 200 and the following.

Second:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000039085/network-and-i-o/ethernet-products.html

Most Intel 10GbE Network Adapters do not support Wake on LAN on any port.

Three questions about it:

  1. Do you want to tell me that all of these official papers are false and that you advertise properties of the product that have been proven not to be met?
  2. And since I am obviously not the first to notice these missing functions (your community link from September 2019), I have to ask why the data sheets and websites have not been corrected to honestly inform buyers?
  3. I paying about $300 and don't get a general function that has been standard for decades?

I can´t believe it! I am horrified and extremely disappointed.

Hello OKuhl,

Good day!

The incorrect documentation will be fixed in the next SW release 25.1, Specifically the readme and Adapter User Guide.

Any other documentation will also be updated as needed.

The X550 datasheet shows accurate information. The datasheet is for the controller. The controller supports Wake on LAN (WOL) as a LAN on Motherboard (LOM) if enabled by the motherboard manufacturer.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Kindly check your inbox as we have sent a private message.

We look forward to your response.

In case we don't hear from you, we will follow up after 3 business days.

Hi Crisselle,

It just keeps getting better.Lol

So you say the controller is capable of WOL which means there is a pin on the package available, only Intel does not solder it to the PBC on a 300$ network card??

Unbelievable! This is just ludicrous.😡

Please name the pin number and I solder it myself!😂

Hello OKuhl,

We apologize for the delay on this matter.

Please see below information from our engineering team.

This is an architectural choice based on the fact that in the so called standby mode, there is no expectation of cooling available in the system and even at a low link setting, the current available on the 3.3Vaux rail is not sufficient to power the link.

WoL is a feature for LOM implementations and depends on the power and cooling architecture of the system.

The documentation will be corrected in the next release of the software.

Let us know if you have additional questions and clarifications.

Awaiting to your response.

We will follow up after 3 business days in case we don't receive a reply.
