I'm considering an Intel D2700DC board for building a router. According to the documentation it has two 82574L ethernet controllers and one RJ-45 port. There's a mini PCIe slot as well, so to expand the network capability of the board I'd like to install a dual port Commell MPX-574D2 chip, which also has two 82574L controllers. An internet search shows that some mini PCIe interfaces might not be able to control dual ethernet - it depends on the motherboard controller. Does anyone know if the controllers on the D2700DC motherboard would be able to enable both controllers on the Commell chip, giving me two extra RJ-45 ports? It would save me from making an expensive mistake if someone can give me a definitive answer. Thanks in advance.
